General Mach Discussion / Problems after downloading lockdown
« on: December 15, 2012, 05:54:05 PM »
When I downloaded the lockdown some weeks back a Trojan evidently messed things up.  Had to reinstall the software that came with the machine in 2006.  Since I am not tracking the software, If I download the lockdown currently availble will the old version cause any problems?  I've had the Trojan removed by the way.

This is a little different than what ya'll are discussing, so please forgive.  My machine came with a factory installed auto zero plate.  When used it works.  It tells me it is moving to a safe z height of 1" after zeroing the z.  In reality it moves to over 4".  After running my cut file, without problems, the z does not return to the proper height if I rerun the cut file.  It is about 1" high.  The dro reads 0 and if you run the cut file,it will cut 1" to high.  No problems with this if I manually set z.  What do I need to change?  I have the lastest lockdown.

I'm up to ver. 2.63 and z still doesn't return to the proper position after completing cutting a file when I use auto tool zero.

i zero the machine with a z plate for the z axis.  cut  the file.  now if i either tell it to recut the file or goto zeros the z is about 1 inch high.  x and y  are always on the money.  at the present it seems to happen all time not just 1 file.  thanks to all.

z isn't slipping down.  when i tell it cut again it's too high.  usually about an inch.  this also happens if i do a goto zeros after cutting.  x and y go to zero.  i'll try your other suggestion on slowing down my feed rate. kinda thought that was the problem. maybe someone will point me in the right direction on changing safe z. thanks much.

General Mach Discussion / z after running file

is it normal to have to rezero z  when repeating a file over and over?
also, when zero with my plate the machine tells me it is moving to a safe z height of 1 inch.  really its about 4 inches.  can this be changed?
will a feed rate that is too high cause jerk and chatter in ovals and circles?
thanks

I'm kent mcvicker.  from marion, louisiana.  a very small village in the middle of the woods.  i envy all of your great sounding jobs.  i'm just a truck driver.  hual chemicals.  bought a ez router with mach 3 in november of 06.  been trying to master everything in my spare time, since.  hope to be able to use my new "toy" to turn my woodworking hobby into at least a part time business.  i'm not good enough with the software to help anyone yet.  everytime i use my router, i understand just how much i have to learn.  it's slow for an old fellow.
