General Mach Discussion / Why does my router "Clonk"?
« on: May 31, 2016, 03:35:34 AM »
I have finally managed to complete the new control system, (Mach 3 driving steppers through a UC300 motion controller) for my 1325 Chinese router and am generally delighted with the results. Everything runs much smoother and more accurately but................. I am plagued by occasional "clonking" from mainly the Z axis. I can only assume this is the drive losing or gaining steps and sounds the same as when the system is first turned on and power is applied to the drivers. It doesn't seem happen during program execution but very often does during initial homing or manually positioning for the start of job. Anyone any ideas where I should be looking first? Many thanks in advance. Bob.

Hi Russ,

Quite happy to have the pop-ups working from an external button then feeding into a Mach input for status, or use a button from within Mach, but would like to have an external button anyway rather than an on screen one. Trying to avoid too much mouse/keyboard work in the workshop due dust.

You could script the Cycle Start button to automatically retract the stops if they are up when you hit Start too.
That would save needing to hit the new button to retract them.
Many options .......

That sounds like a very good option.

Thanks for your reply, they are currently controlled by mechanical valve but I'm happy to fit a solenoid valve, this would also operate a Mach input. So if I'm reading you correctly I can edit the "Start Cycle" script to include a routine to check if that input is not activated, is that correct? Then use the "IsMoving" LED signal to inhibit the solenoid activation?

Hi all,
My flatbed router has pneumatic "pop-up" datum stops which I use to set the material correctly on the bed. I want to be able to prevent them from being raised when a program is running and also prevent cycle start if they are raised.

I can handle the external wiring but anyone got any idea what in's and out's I could use for this.

Many thanks.

Hi Thomas,

Many thanks for your support, the macropump does seem to work ok now that I understand a little more about it. I am however open to suggestion so would be interested to try your route as well as this will be an education for me anyway. I may well need some hand holding along the way, as although I can handle the electronics without problems the programming is a bit of a nightmare for me. Let me know what you think.

Regards, Bob.

Understand!

And would you believe it your tool change macro is exactly what I wanted to do after I get the system up and running. (Cheeky mode on) Any chance of a copy?  ;) (Cheeky mode off)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,

Why am I such a Div?  ???

Now works perfectly, on to the next step  :)

As a matter of interest then, if I want to use another macro how do I name that one, or does it all have to be done in the same one?

Does output 5 LED light on diagnostics? No!

If I step through the macro in debug mode with no input to input 1 nothing happens, with input 1 on when I get to the 2nd last EndIf then output 5 turns on but stays on irrespective of input 1 status. only reset seems to clear it.?
