General Mach Discussion / Homing Slaved Axis Y(A)
« on: January 12, 2015, 08:51:28 AM »
Sorry about this I know this has been covered before but I've done a lot of searching round on here for the answer but can't get to the solution to my problem.

My machine has a gantry driven by 2 steppers (Y axis, A slave) I have 2 home switches connected to their own inputs. When I hit "Ref all home" Z axis refs ok, X axis refs ok then Y begins to travel towards the switch. If I operate the Y axis switch nothing happens, the Y motor continues in the same direction, if I operate the A switch the A axis motor reverses then stops after coming off the switch but the Y axis motor continues. Nothing I do will stop the Y motor other than an emergency stop. I have checked the diagnostic screen and all switches operate as expected. What am I missing?

My button script is as follows,
DoOEMButton (24) 'ref Z
DoOEMButton (22) 'ref X
DoOEMButton (23) 'ref Y
DoOEMButton (25) 'ref A

DoOEMButton (133)
DoOEMButton (134)
DoOEMButton (135)

Many thanks,

Bob.

General Mach Discussion / Start/Stop cycle button?
« on: November 13, 2014, 12:37:22 PM »
I'm sure this has been asked before but can't find any reference to it so, can I connect push buttons to Mach 3 inputs and have them perform program start and stop/pause?

I'm guessing something to do with "system hotkeys" but need some help here please.

Many thanks.

General Mach Discussion / DDUM5 Breakout Board and fake licence
« on: October 15, 2014, 10:02:27 AM »
Hi All,

I've recently bought one of these boards for use with my router as it offers many more I/O than the standard printer port and also includes a PWM spindle speed output. With the addition of 2 C/O relays and differential drive for the step/dir it seems the perfect solution. As it's connected via USB it comes with a driver plugin .dll

All well and good. It also comes with a bootleg licence file. >:(

I'm more than happy to purchase a full and valid licence for Mach 3 but wanted to set things up for testing first. However if I install the latest downloaded version of Mach 3 and then the driver file Mach 3 will not run.

It looks very much like the driver will not work without the fake licence file as well.  >:(

Has anyone had any success using this board with a genuine copy of Mach 3? or what else could be wrong?

General Mach Discussion / Setting "Steps Per" Rack & Pinion machine.
« on: October 09, 2014, 01:46:51 PM »
Hi All,

First of this might seem a daft question but I just can't get my head round it.

I'm trying to re-fit my Chinese router with Mach 3 as controller. The machine has Rack and pinion X and Y axes with 20 tooth pinion (I believe Mod 1.25) driven by 5:1 reduction and 1600 micro-steps per rev motors. The existing controller (NcStudio  >:() is set up to 0.01042mm/step. This suggests that steps per mm are 1/0.01042 which is 95.9692898273
Surely I cant set this figure in "Steps Per" in the motor tuning screen.

What am I missing?

Many thanks,

Bob.
