General Mach Discussion / Preparation Positioning, (Defaults) Mach 3
« on: July 03, 2020, 04:46:44 AM »
Hi all, long time since I've been here having been very happy with most aspects of my Mach 3 setup for some time. However one thing has started to get to me lately. When initiating a "feed hold" mid job, maybe to adjust work holding clamps etc, then moving the head away from the job to get access, after restarting, the "Peparation Positioning" window pops up. All fine and I understand why that is, but why does it default to not starting the spindle and rapid height to zero, (top of job) first before making X and Y movements? Is there a way I can make it default to say Rapid Height +10 and spindle start? It would save me breaking a few cutters and posibility of scratching the surface of the job. Many thanks for any help, Bob

General Mach Discussion / Cut not going into corners?
« on: January 25, 2018, 08:48:23 AM »
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here? I'm trying to cut a pocket into Plywood, the pocket is 12mm wide and 40mm long with corners radiused at 3.1mm. I'm using a 6mm dia cutter but only one of the corners is actually cut completely, it's like the cutter is anticipating the corner and moving earlier. The G Code was compiled using Sheetcam and looks perfect in simulation so fairly sure the problem is not here but is with Mach 3. Also I'm sure I've done this successfully before. Any ideas? I'm stumped.

General Mach Discussion / Setting up a USB MPG (HBO4)
« on: September 19, 2017, 08:02:52 AM »
Hi all, not been here for a while as my machine has been working perfectly for a good while now. However I've decided to add an MPG to the controller and have bought one of the USB connected HBO4 pendants from ebay where there are any number of these for sale. After plugging it in everything seems to work but when I turn the handwheel the axes move something like 4mm per click. This is of course completely useless, I want to use this to "touch on" the top of the job to set Z=0. I've been through all the setup/config screens and can't see any way to adjust the resolution. Has anyone here successfully set one of these up and could point me in the right direction?

Many thanks, Bob.

Sorry about the link but can't work out how to post the picture here any other way.

General Mach Discussion / Art code 102
« on: August 10, 2016, 10:25:15 AM »
Hi all, just completed my 2nd router construction and doing some testing, however I'm getting a problem with Mach 3 stopping mid cycle on odd occasions.

The program just hangs and reports "Art Code 102" offers to try to recover, which is not successful then I have to click "no" when Mach 3 closes down.

After restarting all is well again.

Any ideas whats happening?

General Mach Discussion / Why does my router "Clonk"?
« on: May 31, 2016, 03:35:34 AM »
I have finally managed to complete the new control system, (Mach 3 driving steppers through a UC300 motion controller) for my 1325 Chinese router and am generally delighted with the results. Everything runs much smoother and more accurately but................. I am plagued by occasional "clonking" from mainly the Z axis. I can only assume this is the drive losing or gaining steps and sounds the same as when the system is first turned on and power is applied to the drivers. It doesn't seem happen during program execution but very often does during initial homing or manually positioning for the start of job. Anyone any ideas where I should be looking first? Many thanks in advance. Bob.

Hi all,
My flatbed router has pneumatic "pop-up" datum stops which I use to set the material correctly on the bed. I want to be able to prevent them from being raised when a program is running and also prevent cycle start if they are raised.

I can handle the external wiring but anyone got any idea what in's and out's I could use for this.

Many thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Toggle output from button input?
« on: March 09, 2015, 07:17:34 AM »
Apologies for this as again I'm sure it's been covered but I want to do a simple toggle on/off of a relay connected to Port 2 pin 3 from a hardware button on Port 3 pin 15. Controller is UC300

I've been looking at the macro in this thread "Re-routing input to output in Mach??" but am just going round in circles trying to work it out, not a good day I'm affraid >:(

Would someone please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks.

Brains Development / Toggle output from input button
« on: March 06, 2015, 02:16:36 PM »
I'm sure there is a simple solution to this but how can I toggle an output driving a relay from a button connected to a Mach 3 input?, ie. push on - push off, or is this better suited to a macro?

Any help appreciated

General Mach Discussion / External LED's Again
« on: March 05, 2015, 04:31:03 AM »
Sorry about this, I' sure it must have been covered but I've done a search and gained some info but am still not sure how to achieve what I want.

I am trying to drive 2 external led's to duplicate the Flood and Mist Led's in Mach 3. The OEM codes are 12 and 13 for these Led's

From another post I've gathered the following Macro will do what I want if I assign Output 8 to an output pin connected to my Flood led.

If GetOEMLED (12) Then
ActivateSignal (Output 8)
End If

Have I got this exactly right? and if so where/how do I enter and save the Macro

Many thanks, I'm nearly there now!
