LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Offsets not generated correctly

what version l-cam are you using?
what is the diameter of your part supose to be.i loaded it and the scale said the diameter is 0.1368
if that is the true diameter, a 0.03125  offset is way to fat.

take the code that you have combined as a text file and post it as an atachment to the forum so we can download it and look at it.
another thing i should mention is their is a nesting wizard under the wizards in mach if you need to do somthing like that too.

leave some space between old and new so you don't get lost.
edit out what you don't want add what you want.
engage warp drive and machine away!

l-cam is a beta software it has many unresolved issues.they work on it all the time.some features for mill and some for lathe get a lot of the action.
but it is still  pretty useful.the best tip i can give you is your drawings have to be real clean.even with a pecfect drawing you will have problems.
one trick that i found with a dxf is that you open it up with l-cam turn it into a tap file without making any changes.load it in mach as g-code then
bring it back into l-cam and then work with it.l-cam works with a g-code file alot better than a dxf.keep pluggin and playing.

Mach3 under Vista / Re: vista-virtual pc 2007-xp-mach3

i have messed with vpc installed on xp to do some testing and so far it is showing some strong points.but at this time i do not have a copy of vista.
are you using microsoft vpc 2007? it looks to me at this time that if you had a setup using vista, vpc,xp and mach it should be pretty stable.
i would think that all the things that mess up mach could be handled by vista and xp would be running in a stripped down mode.
the main thing that i have noticed is that all devices that you plan on using must be configured in vista first if you don't then the sub systems won't
be able to hav access to them.example if you wan't to add a second lpt card you have to install it in vista first before you install xp.
if you try to install the lpt card after vista and xp are installed you won't be able to access the card with xp.
this is a interesting subject to me maybee we can get it working.

thanks bill

the I parameter is associated with the X axis and the J parameter is associated with the Y axis.they are not associated with A B or C  axis even if you check the box use as linear.
now you can move them around on differant planes XY  XZ  YZ but not with ABC.

you can take a linear program and wrap it around a cylinder without super software by creating a new setup profile.
when you log onto mach do the create a new profile.
go to ports and pins and move your A axis setup to Y. then move your Y axis to A.
set your A axis to linear so you can jog it around.
set your Y axis steps to get what you want.
now you can carve around a cylinder without having a code with A in it.
