Mach4 General Discussion / Egg shaped holes
« on: June 04, 2016, 12:12:28 AM »
I'm getting egg-shaped holes when pocket milling with Mach 4. The holes are 3 mil out of round. Using Mach 3 I got only 1 mil out of round. The holes in Mach 4 are also undersized about 10 mil (average). Mach 3 always came out right on size.

Such a weird problem. Is anyone else seeing this? Could it be the backlash parameter is not being implemented correctly in Mach 4? I'm using the same backlash value on both programs.

Mach4 Plugins / Shuttle Pro question
« on: June 03, 2016, 08:44:42 PM »
Gents,

Anyone know how to "soften" the transition between the feed rates using the Shuttle Pro? Mine transitions with a hard thump which doesn't sound good for the ball screw. I'm almost positive the machine enclosure itself acts like a drum head and amplifies the sound I'm hearing. But it's a terrible sound that makes me flinch every time I hear it!

My Shuttle Pro has worked fine also...since a long time ago. Both inner and outer wheels.

General Mach Discussion / Making copies - reality capture
« on: October 12, 2015, 07:00:14 PM »
This may be old news to some, but AutoDesk has a free service called ReCap360 where you upload pictures and it generates a 3D model. I will toy with this in the future to see how it works, but it looks very good. The detail of the 3D model produced at 1:50 in the video below is remarkable. You can import the 3D model in your CAM software to generate code to make copies.

A camera attached to your 3D mill would be great to get the pictures.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: MACH4 and ESS with homing issues

That sounds like a restart of Mach4 is needed. If that doesn't fix it, then you have some of the settings wrong in Mach4 or ESS plugin.

I have to ask...Are you running a licensed version? This happened to me when running demo.

I will be getting Mach4 very soon. Does the plugin software run on Mach4? If not, when can this be expected?

It's not productive to fix Mach3 since it has limited lifetime anyway now that Mach4 is here. Mach4 supports newer Windows versions, Mac, and Linux. I took the plunge!
