it's not that the parallel port doesn't work in later versions of windows... I believe Art had wrote something about how it worked somewhere. the mach3 P driver is actually like a virus that has to do with the memory. in regular software windows controls it but with mach.... mach takes control parallel port the computer and actually controls windows rather than windows controling mach. the recent versions of windows and all 64 bit versions have patched the security hole that mach parallel port once used to control windows..... This is the way I understood it anyways. So it's microsoft that put an end to it.

The parallel port doesn't work on 64 bit systems.... only 32 bit ... I believe you can get win10 in 32 bit(not sure though)... or upgrade to an external motion control like ESS.

when I installed xp I stripped out anything I didn't think I had use for on a cnc machine with n-lite. never planned on using a printer... no games, no media player. ect. it's only intended purpose was to run the machine.

what about all the wx.wxhtml stuff theres a dozen or so things in the drop down menu. I'm not a programmer so I don't know if any of that would help. just trying to give ideas.

I use this in a button script to open a calculator .exe program from a button on my screenset maybe you could use something like it for what you want to do. it flash a windows program on the screen for a second and from what I read there is know to eliminate it.

Not sure if this is a bug or if it's just something in my script..... if I have my machine disabled and hit a keyboard jog key and then I enable the machine it will start moving the axis even though the jog key is not being pressed anymore.

I went into the windows files and copied NOTEPAD.EXE then put it in the mach4hobby folder and renamed it to gcedit.exe and it brings up notepad as the editor now.
