General Mach Discussion / Re: suitability of notebook

Download and install Mach then restart (needs to be done the first time you install Mach) Then go to the Mach folder,( C:\Mach3 , if you installed in the default location) Then look for the DriverTest.exe and double click on it, it will start a test and if the line in the test  looks smooth Mach should run fine on your computer .

The driver test may not always be a good indicator of your success. I have laptop that passes the driver test with flying colors. It runs Mach3 well for the most part but not 100%. It stalls out at times and I have never found the cause. Your best indicator is to run several test projects and see how it works for you.
(please do not reply with help on this, been there done that I give up)

Is the second part the Dll file that it refers too? I must also point out that my machine is not the machine this post was made for. Mine is not listed, so I picked this one at random. It works for me except the first few lines that Mach3 does not understand. I just delete these lines and Mach is happy.
Thank-you for your help, Lord knows I need it in more ways than one.

Graham,
My cad program is a chinese version and all the included post processors within it are all metric. Also there is no included post for Mach so I use one that I picked at random and for the most part still works for me. Are you saying that this processor can be tweeked to produce sae code??

Irregardless of units used I believe the DRO's should still read in the units you have them locked to. As stated in earlier posts they do not do this when jogging in step mode.

Brett,
Yes this is precisly what I want. However hit the tab key toggle the jog control from continous to step. Then jog your machine watching the dro's. Even though they are locked in sae and you are stepping in sae they will show movements in metric when set to metric in the settings page.   Brandy

Hey brett,
I want the dros' to be locked especially when I am running a file in mm. That way I can identify problems easier in sae.
I already toggle back and forth on the settings page.
What I am asking is why does the dro's still read in mm when jogging in steps even though they are locked in sae and I am jogging in sae?? I do not want to have to toggle back to sae in the setting page just to jog and then back to mm when running the code. Trying to save time.

General Mach Discussion / metric sae conversions
« on: March 28, 2007, 08:08:50 AM »
I prefer to use inches as my standard but my Cad program is Chinese version and all postprocessors within it are all in mm.  I forget what page it is on but there is a button that allows you to toggle from mm and inches which I use to run my mm codes on mach which is by default in inches. Also I've locked my dro's to read in inches. My problem is this while mach is is set to read mm and the dros are locked to inches the dros will show mm's while jogging in steps which are in inches. Example Dro's are locked to sae Mach is set to read metric code and when I open jog with the tab key and set to jog in steps of .010 inches (or any other increment) it will jog .010 but the dro's will show  a movement of .0004 which is the metric equivelent. Any suggestions??  B. Ender

I have been busy lately with inrelated items but did find some time to test the new system.the same as my L
First I set up the new system in standard pc ( the driver test showed very few glitches) ran my tests and it showed the same stalling that the laptop had. I switched the new system over to ACPI and it ran quite well despite a less impressive driver test. I cannot test the laptop in ACPI as it will complain non stop.

The driver test has always looked good in standard pc and fails miserably in acpi.

I was given another older desktop to try out and will be testing it. I will let everybody know how that is going when I know more.
