can you break that down step by step. I dont see in there where you can set multi pass up in lcam? my bit only can cut .5 inch material at but I need to cut .750 and would like to make the passes @ .125 each

Brett,
I created the file in casmate (my CAD prog) exported it to .dxf.
opened lcam seperated layers, then defined depth for block one then for block 2. in Mach you can view them and the layers are offset like they are supposed to be. the inner line is .250 down and the outer is .750 down. then I opened the multipass wizard, when I try to set the cut depths that is where the file goes wrong. All lines end at what ever depth set. for instance if I do for the outer block .750, the inner sets to .750 too, and vice versa if I set it to .250. The wizard doesnt offer the abality to seperate the blocks.

have you tried to run msconfig and remove everything from the list? you will find very few times where something has to be in msconfig to run on your pc. In most cases it is put there to make it respond faster. even most antivirus that is loaded not has something in the startup but if you look it is also installed as a service, I was told from Symantec this is so the console will load faster PERIOD. so go remove everything from the startup and add back things that you need one at a time. re-enable one then try to run the machine and see if it still has hickups. also do you have a automatic defragmenter running? also you can turn off realtime protection, unless you will be surfing with this pc.

General Mach Discussion / using multipass?
« on: July 21, 2007, 10:44:21 PM »
I have a part I am trying to make. it is a base made from MDF. basically it is 2 rectangles the outer is being cut to a depth of .750 (this is the last cut) and the inner is cut to a depth of .250. my router bit can only eat .500 material (if I wanted that much tool preassure, which i don't) so I tried to use the multipass to cut both lines. my problem is it is trying to make both cuts the .750 now. how do I use the multi pass for both cuts? if that isnt do able how do I run the part and only run the deepest cut with multipass?

Thanks
Bill

Thanks Brett,
I thought it would work that way, but read somewhere they wouldnt share the same pc, but I figured they ment it in terms of both running at the same time.
