General Mach Discussion / First time problem
« on: July 07, 2007, 03:45:18 AM »
Hi All,
Well it's been a year since I put my mill package together and never had any issues, Until now.
All I did was move the darned machine into a shop across town, and now I'm having some weirdness
with Mach2. Are these related?
1- once I press the shift key to Rapid Jog, it sticks. Can't get out of shift mode without restarting Mach.
2- the rotate function (in view window) will seize leaving me with only zoom.
3- the Alt commands lock up at the same time as Shift, see #1.

And finally as if that weren't enough, while X & Y axis seem to be OK, Z axis will not keep position and has
done some damage by trying to run itself into the table. While the first 3 issues seem to sort of get corrected
(albeit temporarily) by reloading Mach, this one does not.

I'm going in tomorrow to try to get to bottom it, and probably reinstall Mach2. Any comments or sugestions will
be much appreciated.

Thanks
Evan

Third party software and hardware support forums. / STL CAM???
« on: September 03, 2006, 02:51:41 AM »
Hi everybody,

I haven't been to the site in a few month's, real nice upgrade.

I'm curious if anyone has some feedback regarding STL CAM applications. I'm looking at MeshCAM and MadCAM.

Are both worthy contenders for my hard earned cash? Allbeit one's a fraction of the other, however both are within
a comfortable range for cost.

Specifically, are there completed posts? I'm not interested in developing one.

One thing going for MadCAM is the imbedding into RhinoCAD. I have it, but I'm not married to it for CAM.

Any feedback would be great.

General Mach Discussion / bobcad post processor question
« on: May 27, 2006, 01:46:14 PM »
Hi everyone,

Has anyone seen the Mach2 post processor for Bobcad V19 crash the app? I have other posts for other machines
and have not had a problem. I've never actually crashed Bobcad until now, but I loaded the Mach2 post
(from Bobcad site) and can't get the simplest of toolpaths to post out without crashing.

Does anyone have some thoughts on the matter?

Thank you very much

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Mach2 Circular pocket question
« on: April 20, 2006, 04:51:47 PM »
Hi all,

I'm sure I'm a little late in this game but I noticed that the CW & CCW buttons are
in reverse in the wizzard for the Mach2 Circ pocket.

Is there a way for me to modify these? Or is it best to just post the problem?

General Mach Discussion / Post processors
« on: April 19, 2006, 12:54:32 AM »
Hi all,

Can someone set me straight? I think I'm missing something. Where is the info regarding a post processor.
Is there one needed? I don't see any reference to posts in the Mach2.611 pdf.
I also don't see any posts in the Mach folder.
There is almost no querries here in this forrum except a couple of folks asking for the same thing.

What am I missing??

I don't have a Mach2 post in my Mastecam disk, or in my BobCAD disk.
Where are they coming from? ???

Thanks in advance

General Mach Discussion / Campbell combo vs Gecko Grex
« on: March 23, 2006, 03:11:37 AM »
Hi all,
I had started a thread earlier regarding breakout boards which led me to comparring these two pieces of work.
I was wondering if there is enough experience among all of you to guide a new system build.

I'm upgrading (overhauling) my older machine. It's a stepper drive that used to run off maxnc firmware/software. But now have Gecko G201 and will run mach3.

Re GRex: I like the ethernet comm and available feedback loop (for steppers!) in the Grex. But may be a little untried to commit to.

Re C.D. Combo: I like the tried & true reputation he seems to have in this community, also has relays and spindle feed built in.

If only I could combine the two.

So what are your thoughts?

General Mach Discussion / CNC4PC Boards
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:59:13 PM »
OK, so before I get started with my retrobuild. I need to understand what I may getting into
with the boards I bought from CNC4PC. I see a few posts that are cautioning against their use.
Are these true mfgr issues, or user error?

What I bought are:

1 C10 bi directional breakout board
1 C3 index pulse card
1 C4 Safety charge pump
1 C6 Variable speed control board
1 C9 DC Relay board

Any conclusive info as to their reliability and ease of integration with Mach3 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Evan
