General Mach Discussion / Re: Physical buttons for plasma

Stainless fumes are very bad news when plasma cut, I thinks its called hexavalent chromium and is carcinogenic, also la is pretty rough too i think, this is why I went for as much ventilation as I could fit in and run with the window open, even in winter to allow for make-up air.

Good idea on going fixed bed ;)

Is it at all possible to get the gantry on the short axis ??

Trouble with tip-up table and fans will be disconnecting the duct work each time.

Interesting, luckily i have kept my ductwork to 12" on either side of fan - as short as possible so i should be at near fan capacity for flow rates.

My apologies, the fan rating is 3200cubic metres per hour so almost 2000cfm.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Wiring Power Supplies

EMI filters in the supply line to the power supplies and if you have a VFD i would put one in the supply to that too.

Generally i would not connect any power supply rail - +or- to to any other line or chassis etc.

USB should be ok, but personally i would go for a small 5v supply as it means dragging one less cable for the pc and so less chance of feeding muck back to the pc.

The o378 address is not fixed though, it can be one of many addresses, whats crucial is that Mach knows the correct address for the port that is installed.

It just defaults to that because once upon a time that was always the first port.

I managed to score two Dell optiplexes on the 'Bay for £35 delivered both with working XP setups! These bargains are getting slim now though which is why i am going USB with a UNC100 adapter on my new build.

Some of this sounds like a windows file permission issue, esp the not remembering t he setting, have a look in Documents and settings > user name > application data and see if there is a Mach3 folder in there.

It seems somehow that older apps save their data in their local program files folder but newer windows seems to say No! I'll save it in Documents and settings > user name > application data because I am windows and I am smart. The trouble is the app still looks in its own folder and thus can't find it!

May not be the issue here but you never know.

I fitted the optional double seal and scraper kits on my plasma linear rails, seemed a good idea.

Any older PC should work, the address can be set to what ever one is needed, this can be found in control panel, system properties IIRC.
