General Mach Discussion / Re: Physical buttons for plasma

If its more than about 300mm wide, drive both sides.

Slaved motors would be the way forwards, have Mach auto-square the gantry on ref.

It may feel firm but when Mach is doing its thing with a plasma job in thinner (<12mm) steel, the whole table will be shaking on tight turns etc, you will be surprised how violent things can get on thinner stuff and cutting intricate designs - I have some parts with grass cut on one edge, its basically a saw-tooth cut and even on 3mm sheet it will shake the hell out out my table - one motor will just anchor one end of the gantry and t'other will be pissing in the wind ;)

Well.....

Don't keep us all in suspense!  What was it?

Sounds like its losing a few steps on that axis.

What are the cut parameters ?

I guess this is a stepper drive machine but does it use ballscrews?

Should it be possible to measure the 0-10v signal?

I thought so, but I tried measuring the input to the VFD from the BOB and as soon i touched the VI & ACOM pins in the VFD the motor stopped as if the input was being shorted out?

This was with an expensive Fluke DMM on DC volts, i was expecting to see something 0 and 10v here??

Odd?

That stop button action looks normal to me.

To rule it out just disconnect the wires (power off) and short out and insulate then test it - this will remove the button from the problem.

Hi

Yes, I had a copy of that setup, it relates to step/dir drive though and does not seem to play with PWM so well as the step/velocity stuff does nothing.

Does the smooth stepper have an install program ?

I am unfamiliar with it but my UC100 USB controller has a separate install app that would need to be run before it worked I think.

I think point two is the only good one ;)

In the litigious world we live in, selling a piece of electrical equipment that requires you to delve inside the control box before using it would likely be deemed illegal.

Bear in mind these are hobby machines, industrial stuff would be a different kettle of fish, but then you would likely get instructions in English :)

My apologies ;)

OP said he had unzipped it already :)

You need to copy the MachLic1.dat license file into the Mach folder on the hard drive, that should sort it.
