Here is the screen set...

Touching off is ok but  a plate would be more accurate, simple to make/fit if you have a spare input on your control board.

Have a look into the excellent 2010 screen-set by GER21 on here - it's damn good and has tool changing down to a fine art.

I am in the same position as I 'm converting a Bridgeport mill and that has R8 too.

Also might want to look at youtube - TTS tooling, looks pretty good and repeatable too.

My thoughts were pretty much the same as yours - change tool, use touch-plate to get Z zero, run part, rinse, repeat...

I use the touch-plate on my mini-mill and its pretty accurate.

The spindle toggle works well :)

Also threw some LED's into my buttons for fun, video here.

I found 3.5kW in my recent searching, but you won't get the speed, the bigger motors (>1kw) seem limited to 1500-2000rpm max.

It tells Mach3 that it is ok to start pierce dwell timing and after that Z axis movement from pierce height to cut height followed by X & Y axis movements.

Thanks,

My book lists that as "Spindle CW, reset THC height 110"

A little vague ;)

No worries, thanks for looking.

I'm hoping to do a mock-up today, need to make sure i don't weld something up that can't be assembled later ;)

Thanks Hood - these are both good branded name VFD's but i might still keep the relays, no harm in a little extra isolation.

I have a pic that shows a little of your part, my reason joining two was that the original part is a very tight fit and was hoped to give me the most stability at the weakest point.

Still be good to see ideas though.

I will have a play tomorrow with the plasma and see what comes out. I still cant assemble as i don't have a fixed bearing block yet - was sent the wrong one :(
