General Mach Discussion / Re: Bridgeport Knee Mill Conversion?

Two reasons,,,

I have done it that way before,
Did not have any more terminals ;)

However, i have just found a source of terminals in a machine at work that is no longer used, i have a feeling it will be a bit lighter before today is out ;)

I agree, it would look a lot better and make use of that dead space.

You're actually spot on...

If OEMLED(815) then 'if led is on....
  DoOemButton(119)  'turn it off.
End if

Started panel wiring today, one of my favourite parts of a build :)

Got the grounds and most of the neutrals in, plus the motor supply from the VFD to the terminal bar.

Thanks for the  info Okay how do you know what numbers you set your step and direction at, the board came with no info? The pin numbers are just a guess I went on line to maybe get the information on the controller there are different TB6560 boards with different settings is there a common setting?

AFIK there are no common settings, there are many clone boards and each has its own quirks,  as said, go to the seller first off and get the details for connection, you will never "guess" the right connections.

Everything i have read about these boards is that they are a PITA.

ok,

can you take Mach out of reset - into working mode?

If you can, do the motors lock or can you move them by hand?

ah, i see

Personally i would go the other way - limits first then motion, just in case.
So if you have nothing connected - switches etc, how can there be anything to see in diags?

Until you can get a reliable indication of switch inputs like limits etc you should not really worry about movements of the machine - you may be able to get in going but not stop it ;)

What switch inputs have you got first - limits, homing, e-stop ??

Are there no indications at all in Mach ??

Finally made some progress...

Got the cabinet mount on the mill, and the pendant station cut and welded, then mounted on a suspension arm, pictures below.

Started laying out the main panel now. :)

Not all the holes in the station will have buttons, thought it best to cut spares and fit blanks just in case.

Slightly concerned about the strain on the 10mm stud holding the arm on the rear of the ram but it seems ok.

I viewed that as play in the spindle?

If you look early on, you can see the spindle nose moving in relation to the spindle body, where its wedged on the wood???

So its just the 5v psu thats failed?

I should think just about any 5v switch-mode psu would work, the BOB only draws minimal current and a 2A unit here in the UK would be about £10

I have not checked all the details of your unit though so please take my advice carefully ;)
