One-step ahead ;)

The 2010 screen-set has the Probe led on the main page - just where it's needed :)

In the first post you said the led flashes when e-stop is hit, in the last post you say it goes out when e-stop is hit?

Only one can be correct.

So in diagnostics it is showing activity on pin13 when e-stop is pressed?

How is the switch wired - is it a normally closed one - e-stops usually are i.e. it open when you press it.

In ports and pins do you have pin 13 showing on the inputs tab where it says Estop ?
Also make sure you have the correct Port showing and that is NOT emulated.

The LED that flashes in the diagnostic screen when e-stop is pressed - does that input number match the number assigned to e-stop in ports & pins?

If it does then I am all out of suggestions as the flashing LED shows wiring and BOB ok but if Mach does not act on the signal then ??

If it does not match then that is the problem, put that input number into ports & pins and try again.

Its the fun that counts :)

Sounds good, no idea what a linear voltage differential transformer is though, but i'm sure i need one ;)

This was the routine that comes with the 2010 screen set, it was most likely just crap under the tip or an intermittent ground connection - i was relying on the circuit through the spindle and motion bearings, slides etc.

Is it the UC100 or the BOB?

They are currently £84 at CNC4YOU :)

Yeah but no but...

Would it be as sweet with an old motor and vari-speed mechanical drive on top ??

Doubt it.

I will revisit the servo replacement at some stage, just a matter of cash and finding the right motor that will do the speed and the torque/power needed.

I already have the ENC module fitted so thats one step further ;)

Just need a motor that can do 3000rpm with the same sort of torque/power as the old motor has AND be able to run on my limited power supply of course - I cant just bung on a 5kW servo and gear it up for the speed as it would pop the supply breaker :)

Yes a lot do use it and one of the fails i had was my fault although due to an unexpected issue - i was probing with a tool length offset applied and the routine did not like it so plunged the head into the bed at rapid rate :)

The other time was an engraving tool with a 0.2mm tip - might have been dirt or something but it drove that tool into the aluminium bed nicely :)

Both would have been prevented with a "safety" touch-plate so it does seem a good idea.

I have no idea how it works on a lathe though - do you have insulated tooling or still use a plate somehow or are you talking about an electronic probe itself???
