General Mach Discussion / Re: Bridgeport Knee Mill Conversion?

Think I may have found a working motor replacement setup...

Motor...

Drive...

Plus the braking resistor.

Would be in sensorless-vector mode, will still need an encoder on the system somewhere.

At 1:1 it seems to have most of the torque needs met, maybe push a little belt reduction and go to 125Hz to boost the low end a bit further while keeping the top end.

Hard part is mounting the encoder - will have to go on motor shaft as the draw-bar means i can't use the spindle shaft - guess that will mean i am limited to 1:1 ratio??

I guess you won't have a spare N/C switch you can use - this is the generally accepted way of wiring an E-Stop button??

But either way, if Mach is ignoring the input then I am afraid I don't think i can help much, i have never seen this behaviour, it may be worth uploading your XML file so that it can be viewed - maybe just a simple error somewhere.

Are the 0-10v lines from the VFD to the BOB the correct polarity from one end to the other?

You could also go into Motor Pulleys  and tick the "Reversed" box ;)

Just a query - 4 thou on MDF - thats 0.1mm !

I would not think accuracy on MDF is possible in that range TBH.

I would be inclined to change the tool diameter using the wear factor (if used) by 2thou and try again but I'm still unsure if it is really possible.

Have you done axis calibration using accurate measuring tools over a reasonable distance?

4 thou?

In both directions?? Could be cutter wear, not a 100% accurate tool diameter?

Ah, now if that was clearer at the beginning :)

So, lets try getting it the right way round first, go into ports and pins, set or unset the "Active Low" box on the Estop line - reverse whatever its on.

Now, in diagnostics, I think this is right - I'm not near my machine, the LED should come ON when the estop is pressed instead of off.

Try that ;)

Go into ports and pins, estop line on inputs tab, click "Emulated" to on - this should remove the estop button from the issue, can you then get Mach3 out of reset by pressing the reset button?

Does the BOB use the charge-pump or not?

You say it does nothing - but it is doing something - it is lighting that LED in diagnostics!

So, you push the button, the LED goes OUT, then press RESET does anything happen?

If Mach is ignoring the switch by not going into reset, being high or low or n/c or n/o will not matter at this stage.

It will be wrong but try pressing the the e-stop, then see if you can get Mach to wake up by pressing the reset button on screen.

try that first

Button IN, press reset on screen, what happens?
