Trying to find someone to help edit my post processor for fusion 360, its in JavaScript and makes about as much sense as a chocolate teapot.

I have spent hours on this trying to blind edit it but keep hitting a wall.

Fusion / autodesk forums not giving me any reply since yesterday.

If yes i can post up exactly the issue....

And its missing steps when cutting in air?

Is there a motor coupling, belt pulley etc come loose somewhere?

Sounds like time to dig deeply into the mechanics I think, as its only one axis you have a good idea where to start ;)

Is there anything different on the last process - heavier cut, faster speed, deeper cut??

Sounds very odd that its only doing it on the last process.

Sort of, you would usually either connect it to the BOB as an input which would then tell Mach to stop everything or you can setup a full safety circuit which controls power to the drives and also tells Mach to stop everything via the BOB input.

When connected to the BOB and triggered, Mach will drop the enable outputs (if used) on the drives which will stop any motion, but some say it is safer to keep the drives energised as steppers then act as brakes and will lock as Mach stops sending pulses out.

I think it looks like the Vref VR is used to set the motor current - you need to get a meter in there to see exactly what it is setting as you could easily over-drive the 298 which won't end happily ;)

Should it have a heat-sink? 2A is a fair bit of power to be sinking without one i think.

Steppers are always drawing power and can make noises, any chance of a video clip?

stirling,

Do you have a listing of other  undocumented variables?

RICH

Anyone else see the irony in that question :)

No need for name, just place the license file in the Mach folder :)

Pretty certain the vfd only supports 0-10v plus fwd/rev signals and not +/-10v so cant use the CSMIO servo DAC output or pid.

Not to worry, i think it will do fine, just need to assess the overrun before diving into a job and make allowance.

Well thats good news...

Seems to work just fine with the M84 macro :)

Tried various pitch and depths all the way up to 5mm pitch which is a bit steep :)

Couple of notes though - it needs a good headroom on Z above the start point as it overruns on the withdraw and will trip the soft limit again. Also at 300rpm it will overrun the reverse point by about 3mm on a 1.5mm pitch, just need to be aware of that :)

A little video...

It certainly tracks the rpm as i was gently applying the spindle brake while it was doing its thing and you can clearly see the Z drive belt changing speed with spindle speed :)

Also, the new DRO39 now shows real rpm - nice.

I played with the Mach pid loop again and although it did stabilise the speed at exactly the requested speed, it took a while to do so, i'll leave that off i think.

So, what sort of tap holder do i need to look for - floating, fully rigid??
