General Mach Discussion / Kernel speed change
« on: December 31, 2015, 01:05:58 PM »
Hi all

does changing the Kernel speed upset or affect any other settings???

I have to replace the pc on my plasma table tomorrow and was wondering if it was also a good time to reduce kernel speed as I am fairly certain its too high.

Currently on 35khz was thinking of dropping to 25khz.

Won't bother if it upsets anything else as i really don't want to retune everything.

General Mach Discussion / What is my current feedrate?
« on: December 28, 2015, 05:15:53 AM »
Here is the top section of one of my code files, trying to figure out when it reaches N0240 M98 (HeightSense.tap) it does a G28.1 Z3.00, G28.1 in the guide says it moves at current feed-rate but what is my current feed-rate ???

Also, what does this line do N0050 F1 ????

Just trying to gain a deeper understanding of stuff.

N0010 (Filename: 65mm Square Circledxf.tap)
N0020 (Post processor: DTHC-HYT-TAP-rev11B With Pauses.scpost)
N0030 (Date: 26/12/2015)
N0040 G21 (Units: Metric)
N0050 F1
N0060 G53 G90 G40
N0070 (Part: 65mm Square Circledxf)
N0080 (Tool number: 106  Distance between Touch-offs: 0  Feedrate: 4100)

General Mach Discussion / Custom plasma probing code?
« on: December 26, 2015, 04:50:04 AM »
I'm looking at testing a new initial height sensing method on my plasma table, it currently uses G28.1 I think and the Z-limit as the response input from the floating z switch.

I want to trigger the Aux-B relay before lowering the Z to probe and release Aux-b relay after a good probe.

SO the sequence would be

Probe request,
Trigger Aux-B relay
Lower head until Z-Lim is tripped
Lift head back to safety height
Release Aux-B relay
Lower head to pierce height
Continue to M3 etc

Trouble is, while i can do the mechanicals, i have little knowledge of how to achieve the control in my case.
I can tweak the G-code post processor in sheet cam pretty well though :)

Any tips?

General Mach Discussion / New PC, what to move from old one?
« on: October 01, 2015, 04:36:40 AM »
I have a working machine with customised plasma screen set, the LPT port is failing.

It uses the MP3000-DTHC2 from CandCNC which has custom plugins i think.

I guess i need to do a fresh Mach3 install on the new PC first then run the port tester??

Then run the CandCNC installer?

Then copy what exactly from my working setup???

General Mach Discussion / Can load be speeded up in my case?
« on: September 23, 2015, 03:51:18 AM »
Probably something i have not set right but...

When I load code, it runs through each line on screen, then when i press my "set origin" button it re-runs the whole lot again.

This can take some time on a full sheet, am i doing something odd or is this normal behaviour for Mach3??

BTW my set origin button (i think) copies the current position to a G54, then zero's the DROs then regens the toolpath display, basically makes wherever i stick the torch my zero point.

General Mach Discussion / Adding a button to my plasma screen...
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:49:52 AM »
I need to add a button to my plasma screenset, i want to be able to toggle the "M1 optional stop" on and off, with an LED as well to show status.

I think the button is 177 and the LED is 65??

Is it simply a matter of adding those controls and assigning them to those features or am i missing something here ??

I find machscreen awkward to use so wanted to go in fully armed with what i need to achieve ;)

General Mach Discussion / Stop CV issues...
« on: September 12, 2015, 02:51:28 PM »
Been trying to improve my plasma cut quality on internal corners, using the "Stop CV on angles >89" appears to help but I seem to get a visible jerk in the cut upon each transition from a straight line to an arc or radius, is that normal??

Is there any improvement to be had or is it just the way it is?

General Mach Discussion / Odd setup issue, new machine...
« on: September 10, 2015, 12:31:02 PM »
Finally got to move my working PC setup from the old table to the new-build one today, seems ok apart from one odd issue.

The settings were copied from the test pc i was using to debug the table build, not transferred, i just manually copied each setup screen from one to the other.

The Drives are digital DSP drives from CNC4You.UK and are new, the BOB is part of an MP3000-DTHC2 setup from CandCNC, this was taken from the old table.

The oddity is this - when testing the jogging I find Z and X axis work perfectly but the slaved Y&A axis sounds and runs very notchy and rough. My concern is that all drives are the same, all motors are the same and therefore i set all "Step Active Low" settings the same.

However, upon changing the step active low settings for Y&A seems to fix the issue.

But, I cannot see why these two axes need opposite step signal levels???

Any ideas here????

General Mach Discussion / Mach signal delay??
« on: August 25, 2015, 04:07:18 PM »
Probably a tricky question but part of a discussion I have going on regarding pierce delay timings on plasma cutting.

Recommended delay might be say 0.2s but does not take into account any external delay which should be allowed for i.e. deducted.

Is there a known amount of loop or cycle time for Mach getting the "arc ok" signal from the plasma cutter and then telling the z axis to index down from pierce height to cut height etc????

Just trying to identify the variables at play.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / DRO's do not always zero?
« on: August 23, 2015, 09:37:15 AM »
I am setting up a new plasma table and find that when referencing, the DRO's do not always zero after.

Usually works but not always???

I am referencing X normally (DoButton ( 22 ) i think ) but Y is slaved and I'm using RefCombination ( 10 ) in the ref button script.

Any thoughts?
