General Mach Discussion / Messaging is wrong
« on: April 18, 2018, 02:27:54 PM »
The message box on screen, i think its called "Error" and is a label, displays the wrong message - is this affected by the "Look ahead" option setting??

It displays commented lines/section headers in the code file.

The message is usually one message ahead :)

General Mach Discussion / Get Optional Stop/M01 to stay off?
« on: April 18, 2018, 02:03:07 PM »
For some odd reason I have "Ignore Optional Stop" turned off in config, my screen always defaults to having it on

Is there a way to force it to stop working???

Is there a way to import a wizard screen set into a main screen set??

Both open normally in Machscreen - i have tried making a new page but its shows as a transparent page with images of page 0 on it??

Never tried anything more adventurous that sticking a DRO on a screen before !

Possible or not??

General Mach Discussion / Edit a wizard?
« on: April 02, 2018, 12:39:04 PM »
Can wizards be edited?

I see there is a .set file but also a .def one.

Are they editable like screens or secret voodoo and not to be touched ;)

General Mach Discussion / Probing - what would i need?
« on: March 31, 2018, 06:12:16 AM »
Hi all,

I'm currently using a Haimer 3d taster for setting my work coordinates, works well but its manual ;)

What would i be looking to get to setup auto edge detection routines and I guess I would also need to setup auto tool height setting as i currently use an off-machine tool height setter and the two are relative are they not?

I have watched some u-tube stuff but they all have multi-million £ Renishaw kit and thats just fantasy for me :)

Is there a workable budget setup?

General Mach Discussion / Tool Table issues
« on: March 12, 2018, 03:00:45 PM »
I had a job tonight, follow on from yesterday where i had a 6 tool job on - yesterday I set my tools in the holders, set the heights in the tool table using my auto macro which reads a DRO and saves the heights in the TT using code, the TT is not loaded or displayed when doing this.

Today I had to use one tool from yesterday so i presumed the height was still set in the TT.

When the job ran the tool was a good 10mm above the work, I reset my Z ref and again it was over 10mm high, checking the TT against the height setter DRO showed the TT value was over 10mm out so the values I set yesterday did not seem to have been saved?

Luckily it was tool high not low so no damage.

Questions :-

When is the TT data saved?
If loading the TT via macro code, do you need to "save" it as well?

Along with the random scripter compile errors, another black mark against Mach I feel :(

General Mach Discussion / Spindle orientation on a Bridgeport...
« on: February 21, 2018, 06:31:46 AM »
I'm slowly making my way to an ATC project only BP conversion, got tool length on the knee, will be fitting a BT30 spindle this weekend, got new tooling etc,

Have read many great threads on here about ATC's but can find nothing on spindle orientation - seems with the BT30 having dogs, without this in place the ATC is a non-starter??

Now, I have an encoder on my spindle as it does rigid tapping, my first thought was can Mach read the Index pulse on this? Maybe that would be a way forwards, i just have no idea, the spindle drive is a standard 3Hp VFD driven AC motor the VFD has an "Inching" input option IIRC.

Whats the way forwards here?

General Mach Discussion / Scripter Compile Error bites again :(
« on: February 18, 2018, 06:29:44 AM »
Hi all

I'm trying to run one of my first batches of parts on my wonderful Bridgeport conversion and Mach is doing it damnedest to P me off!

Halfway through the third run of the second part, so its made about 15 toolchanges and start/stop cycles already, it decides to start the code with no spindle motor, luckily i was close enough to an E-Stop to save my work and tool.

Going to MDI - S1000 M3  all you get is the "Scripter Compile Error in M3.m1s" - not had this for a while but have suffered tool breakage plenty of times before - there is NO trigger for it, just random.

I restarted Mach and it still will not run so i'm stuck now and no idea what to do, parts need to go tomorrow so the pressure is there as well :(

Was there ever a definitive fix for this issue?

I really can't use it with this uncertainty which i thought was gone.

Any quick suggestions?????

Using V062 BTW

General Mach Discussion / G49 on Mach3 Mill
« on: January 28, 2018, 11:11:42 AM »
Just a quickie - if i have a file with G49 at the start does Mach then ignore all G43 Hxx calls?

I am now passing all tool length compensation to the knee on my mill, any G43 Hxx will cause a crash.

I could edit the post but I thought it safer to maybe add G49 to my Mach INIT line in general config
