General Mach Discussion / Loud noise from steppers and machine
« on: April 07, 2018, 12:59:00 PM »
I'll add a video with sound. Had to replace controller board with a later board (TB6600- 4 AXIS Ver 2.0) as original board died about two years ago.  Couldn't get the new board to cut right, it was cutting four times too big.  Let it sit for a while to do other things and now I'm back to trying to make it work again.  Fixed the cutting four times too big problem by doing an axis calibration.  Cuts correctly now along x,y and z axis but makes horrible noise as it cuts something from G Code.  Runs very quietly as it is being jogged. Believe my problem is in configuration files, although I didn't change anything when I changed over to the new controller.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

General Mach Discussion / General Logic Configuration- Tool Change
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:01:52 AM »
Stop Spindle Wait For Start-  I have been cutting with Mach lll for a year or so and have never needed to change tools.  Now I need to change multiple times.  I have ordered a MuscleChuck.  I do not have a automatic tool changer and will change tools manually.  Under General Logic Configuration I want to select stop spindle wait for start.  I know that stops the spindle and then waits for me to tell the system to start again after I change the tool.  Since all of my work is flat panel I don't have home switches.  I just manually zero the machine.  I am using VCarve Pro and will set my post processor to General ATC or Mach lll ATC so the tool changes will be in the g code for Mach lll to recognize.  Two main questions, when the spindle stops how do I make it go somewhere safe and convenient to change the tool (I have never written any g code), and then how to I re-zero the tool.

I know every question is answered here somewhere.  I just couldn't find it.  Thank you.

Downloaded demo of Cambam.  Drills holes easily.  Thanks!

I'll probably need another gcode converter then.  I have tons of holes, particularly 1/8" that will be cut on the arc of a panel of a stitch and glue boat.  Every six inches a 1/8" hole.  Maybe 500-600 for a small stitch and glue kayak.  I'll do some searches on the forums and online.  I will only buy free demo software.  I don't buy software anymore that I can't try.  Any suggestions?

It's mdf.  Very easy to stick a router bit through.  Especially if your coming directly into it from above.  At a reasonably slow rate.  The router also has a quarter inch collet.  I would imagine there are 1/8" drill bits with 1/4" shafts I just haven't seen any.  So it makes sense for me to drill (not mill) these 4000 so so holes with my router.  My problem lies in getting Mach to recognize that the hole is 1/8" in diameter and the cut is not to be cut around the holes circumference.  Thanks for any help.  Joe

I use drill/mill wording for the same operation.  So I guess what your saying is that I can't put a 1/8" router bit in in my router and set about drilling 1/8" holes on 1" centers?

I'm drilling 1/8" x 1 1/8" holes into my 1" thick MDF table top. I use ACE to convert DXF vs12 to gcode.  Load that to Mach3, and set a feed rate.  Everything so far converted has reproduced pretty well.  It cuts a circle very nicely and exactly replicates drawing. But that's a 1",2" etc circle.  Not a 1/8" hole.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Can anyone point me towards the best info in the videos or manuals on how to drill some 1/8" x 1 1/8" holes in MDF. My router is cutting outside the hole.

Thanks, I searched here and Mach 3 on Yahoo but couldn't come up with anything.
