Hood,
I added a flag to the end of the X travel and it works as a limit and stops the travel. My home switch flag is not at the other end of the travel. It is about 2" from the end. Can I have the table move the aditional 2" to another flag set as a limit? Now when I try to over travel at the far end, the limit flag stops the travel as it should. When I go to the end where the home flag is, the table stops there as if it hit a limit switch. Can I make the table bypass that flag and go the 2" to the limit flag? The table homes correctly with no problems. Right now, the home flag works as homing, and also works as a limit.

Thank you Hood for all your help with people's questions. You are a real asset to the forum.

Thanks for the drawing. I have optical switches. I guess I would need a second flag installed for them to work as shown.

I think I read a comment from Hood saying it is possible to have the home switchs in the middle area of the table and also set it up to work  as limit switches at both ends of the travel. Please explain how to set that arrangement up. I currently have homing switches on X Y & Z axis, and I have soft limits working for all axis. I would prefer to have limit switch protection set up instead of soft limits.

That worked like a champ. Thank you for your help.

I would like to know How To Display Mill Table X and Y Travel Boundries In The Cutter Path Screen. That way, I could see if my cutter paths would violate these boundries before I ran the program.

Sieg Machines / x3 Mill Homing Switch Install Question
« on: December 04, 2013, 12:39:45 AM »
I have optical sensor homing switches on my X3 machine. My question is if I wanted to replace them with plunger limit switches, can I use the same wires that power the optical switch to power the plunger switch? Do I just transfer the wires to the connectors on the plunger switch to make it work? The reason I want to change switches is to obtain more X Y and Z travel without having to take the table apart to reposition the optical sensors.

I have a post that has the following program end code. What does the  D0   entry do?

PROGRAM END FORMAT:
{N<SEQ>} G0 Z0 D0 M5 M9<EOB>
{N<SEQ>} <MOTION> {X<X-CHANGE>} {Y<Y-CHANGE>}<EOB>
{N<SEQ>} M30<EOB>
N9999 (END,PROG)<EOB>
%<EOB>

That program end worked great. Thank you. I will try my hand at doing some editing of my own now that I see some of the logic involved. I guess that is the best way to learn. I thank you for sticking with me through this problem.
