Hi,
why XP?. It hasn't been supported for years, even Windows 7 is looking pretty dated.

Win 7 is the best OS MS has ever produced. Win 10 is an abomination.

General Mach Discussion / Ahha Artisan CNC onversion to Mach4 (Ess/MB3)

I have a Denford Mill that is current running the dos based artisan CNC. It is PC Based and runs with a DB37 pin connection to the PC (connected to an ISA ard in the PC) thre is also a DB25 cable going to the PC's printer port.

I am assuming that the db37 is a fast connection to  control the servo's etc.

Has anyone got experience of this system??? I am hoping I can simply replace the ISA  and lpt1 with a bob (MB3) and control the servo's etc with that. Hopefully I can even just interface directly to these cables and job done???

Any help/advice greatly appreciated

Thank you for the reply Craig - I had narrowed it down to ESS (which I know) and Pokeys57CNC.

Do you know much about the Pokeys? generally the spec looks a little higher than the ESS and it the POkeys has the 0-10v spindle voltage control on board. The connecting to the polkets seems a little difficult if you don't buy the connection kit.

Hi I am upgrading a servo based CNC lathe to Mach4. I already have one running nicely on Mach3.

Looking for recommendations for a good motion controller that supports a real spindle encoder (a rotary encoder with 60  pulses per prev for example) also with A and B outputs.

I have an ESS on the Mach3 but at the time the ESS only supported one index for threading = has that changed?

Anyway - looking for recommendations for a board that will handle servo's and 2 pulses for threading index.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 numberpad

I don't know if this is the correct place to post.

I have Mach3 set up with a USB keyboard, but I want/need to have another small numpad type key board at a different location to the main keyboard for jogging etc (basically the same as a shuttle2 without the wheel).

Do I need to write a Plugin for this or is there an easier way to do it e.g. using hotkeys or something similar?
