I want to secure a piece of ply wood to my machine work bed and them clamp workpiece to that.

I need to skim the plywood level, or at least a 250x250 mm square of it.

Is there a mach 3 Wizard to do this ?

if not I would willingly pay someone to write some gcode to do it ..say 1mm Z

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Mach turns spindle OFF when plunges.
« on: September 27, 2014, 02:32:25 PM »
I have just fitted. new controller, the spindle starts as soon as I power up the controller ....I am OK with that ....

But then when I run gcode in Mach3 ...it positions the spindle ..plunges to the sub straight..,then the spindle stops..when it should be cutting.

Is this a Mach 3 setting which needs adjusting.

Thanks

FAQs / Setting up motor tuning
« on: January 16, 2014, 02:51:58 PM »
Hi
I am trying to calibrate the motor movement to the right distance. I have a few questions.
1. What does step pulse do and what is a good value to use?
2. What does dir pulse do and a good value to use
3. Is there any easy way to calculate steps per or just trial and error then measure distance moved with a vernier?
Sorry if these are silly questions

General Mach Discussion / Should I replace 3040 control box
« on: October 31, 2013, 10:02:42 AM »
Hi
I have a cnc 3040 the Chinese one from eBay.

Is it a good idea to change the standard control box ?

Any recommendation as to what with ..taking into account I am just a home hobby user so don't want to send a fortune on a start of the art system.

I am in the UK it seems USA carriage is very expensive for this stuff.

thanks

Hi

I have a CNC3040, ok its Chinese cheap machine but I am just a newbie diy user, which I have checked for any slack on drives etc and it all seems fine.

The problem I have is ...I position tool and set Axis zero's in Mach3 ..run the code ..then to change a tool I jog back to the zero coordinates on the Mach3 screen BUT that puts the tool about 25cm off ?

Any ideas please ?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Does Mach 3 need dedicated PC ?
« on: September 13, 2013, 05:38:32 AM »
Hi

I have a pc in my workshop which is only used for Mach 3, I think it would be useful if I also had my cad/cam software on it to save having to go back into the house for small design edits on my main pc.

Someone told me that MACH 3 does not like having any other software installed on same pc ..is that correct ?

Cheers

Roy
