General Mach Discussion / smoother circles?
« on: February 25, 2014, 02:11:02 PM »

corel draw circle
expoty autocad.dxf
without converting to curves

after converting to curves

in mach 3

what am I doing wrong

first cut = yippee, only snapped two bits.
can't do the zero z axis with 80mm 8 cm travels andset the plunge

/\ didn;t realise in lazy on that you had to set the start from the bottom left!! add to that I was sending the files over in mm so they were 10 times larger, no wonder my x axis is now 'toast'

where is the manual?

23
also the limits from zero to the table size don't stop at the number - 500mm

have I got an old demo?

General Mach Discussion / I feel somewhat stupid asking but.......
« on: February 23, 2014, 03:00:44 PM »
I have connected the limit switches
top of the z
left for x and y
they are closed.
my question is - how do I actually connect them to the break out board.
on the ports and pins screen it says
X++
X--
X HOME
am I supposed to come out of X=+ and back in after the switch to X--
it says only pins 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 are inputs.
that mean I  the other pins are outputs?
/\ I have looked everywhere this evening on how to, I fear its something simple, but alas I simply don't know what to do.
??????????????????
do I take 5 volts to the switch and then into the pin? does it simply want to see 5v?-
must ask as I don't know and don't want to fry it

----------------------------------------------

also, as the axis travels and clicks the switch, how farther is it supposed to travel IF at all?
is that what  the slow zone is all about - do you need it?
if its set to one  - is that 1 inch of travel allowable after the switch is triggered, as my z has 5mm the y has 5mm and the x has nothing bar the 10mm bumper

-------------------------------------------
also whilst setting up the table display mode, and entering 500 for a 500mm travel, the scale looks way out - 30.00 seems correct what am I doing wrong?

General Mach Discussion / home plus and minus = limit switches
« on: February 21, 2014, 01:28:51 PM »
can you have seperate pins for an input of x y and z - or do all three go to one pin?
for the limit thing?

i think i have limit switches on both ends of each axis?
but only 2 wires coming down.

how do I using the motors - simply move the head manually on screen?

or how does the homing thing work, does it look for the switches front and left?

if for example I am only ever loading 2 foot square sheets in, can i set the machine to home at the front and to the left with the limit switches, so it knows it can only travel 2 foot back and 2 foot to the right?

how does it work please?
in laymans terms?

i think i understand assigning a pin on the bob to mach 3 home in the pin set up, but do not understand the purpose? - is it to simply shut the machine off from squaling the couplers on the shafts - yes i did just do that
 :o

General Mach Discussion / newbie help please
« on: February 21, 2014, 10:40:20 AM »
hello, still in demo mode.
the machine is an isel fb2 16mm with 5mm pitched threads
neama 3.1's bi-polar parrallel
drives are set 3.2 a and 2 micro steps
leafboy usb bob

only two issues!!!

draw a box 100mm by 50mm in corel, export it as a dxf to corel cad.
import that into lazy cam - make the g-code.
send it to mach3,
the problem is the machine moves a mere exact half, 50 by 25mm instead of 100 by 50mm
do i change the 'steps per' from 400 to 800?
velocity stays at 750?
acceleration 24
is it better to have 'more' micro steps set on the drives than 2?
i.e. if I have 2 steps at 800 steps per  - if thats correect?
can I have 20 steps at 8000
or is that not how it works?

ALSO, my Z axis is set up just as the X and Y axis are - they trun the corrcet way, but the Z turns the wrong way goes up instead of plunges, and goes down at the end of the box

is that a wireing issue? as I changed the a- and aaaaaaaa+ around and the b+ and b- around and it dint make any difference.
thank you please

p.s. who do I send the pay-pal to?

General Mach Discussion / erm makita router and usb bob control
« on: July 23, 2013, 08:24:01 AM »
if I just bought one of these

and then just bought one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281108442161?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_1315wt_1025

that means I cannot use mach to control the speed?

also, are these usb break out boards any good?
can I now run windows 8 ?

what size is the body on that 80mm?

30
and you have to then have a vfd/ transformer to up it back to mains voltage, as you need it firstly low voltage so you can control the power on and off, and the speed
you couldn't have 110/240v switching and speed control on the break out board.

Also, If you were nailing one together at the moment, and you did not have a spindle or mount, you would simply go for a 80mm spindle mount, so as to choose
1.5kw air cooled
2.2kw water cooled

do the far eastern 80mm spindles have an outomatic collet affair?

being a novice, do I want to be using a 1.5kw spindle firstly, then swap to 2.2kw at a later date, or should I simply go 2.2kw, and run the coolant lines up my flexi-track now and be done with it?

do they not do a baffle aluminium fin type affair for air cooling, that wraps around the spindle, or a  mount that has fins grouves machined into it that can take some finnage?

or even simpler, did they start doing an 80mm spindle air cooled and they over heated , so they liquid cooled them?
