I have replaced the motor still z does not lock.
Mach3 shows movement and smoothstepper diag shows movement.
When I change the position of z in mach3, then regen the code changes but no z movement.

I believe my problem is the controller or the smoothstepper driver Ver 17efb, 37, 2.08.36.

yes and if I put new motor on z it does not work
and connect z wire to x it does not work

ok     The mach 3 and your sim is running like z is moving.   smoothstepper dia thinks z is moving.   no power to z.    is that a controller problem ?
or my xml ?

I keep a written record of all pin setups, I believe they work before.  I changed z to x and x did not work.  I believe my problem is in the controller or the smoothstepper board?
