The latest version is 2.84 I believe it works fine with the Tormach folder structure. If it doesnt I will fix it until it does.

The latest version is here in this forum, you can download the .zip file and extract it into the Addons/Newfangled folder.

Be sure your license file is named exactly WizLic.dat and didnt get a .txt appended to it by the mail system. Note that windows explorer by default hides some file extensions. There is an option to show all fiile extensions.

Your steps per inch are not right.

First be sure you have set the base units to inch- thats the first menu pick on the Config menu.

On a Sherline the motor is directly connected to the screw, so it takes 200 steps for the screw to make one turn. On an Inch Sherline thats .050, so it takes 20 turns to go one inch. That makes it 200 x20 or 4000 steps per inch. If you have the Xylotex set for 8 micro steps ( you should if you dont) then you need 8x4000 or 32000 steps per inch.

You also ought to download the Mach install guide and read it. It will take you through the setup step by step. Much more likely to succeed that way than trial and error.

Mach does not support a general way of licensing wizards. the newfangled ones are handled as a special case in the wizard open code.

For V4 Brian is looking at some changes that would let you use compiled VB code. With this your code would not be visible and you could handle any license scheme within the VB code.

There is no conflict, they both take their own place in the addons folder,only one can ever run at once. The only conflict us the screen button will only look for a folder with the name "newfangled'. If you have unzipped the files into newfangled283 then it can only be found by selection off the menu.

There really is no reason t keep an old one around, nothing has been removed from a version,just bug fixes.

Writing a wizard requires doing a screen design and writing some VB code. I suggest you first look at the videos on this site. They are a bit old, but mostly still accurate. There is also a lot of good info in the wiki, also on this site..

PoKeys / Current limits

Can I use the pokey 3.3v terminal to supply the voltage to a pot for an analog input? How much current can I draw from the 3.3v pin?
Id like to have a couple pots to control feed and spindle speed.

Can I use the 5v line to power an encoder? What current is allowed? I assume this runs into the limit on the USB bus

Thanks, but that is exactly what I am doing. It does not open the box to make an edit. The only field I can change is the OEM code. On LEDs I cannot change the image file or the color or the blink property. On buttons I cannot change the file.

I simply click on the element I want to edit. It then shows the black handles, and the property dialog fills up. I can change the OEM code, but none of the other properties. Ive tried clicking on both the name and the property, also double clicking each, and right clicking.

I just tried removing machscreen completely and reinstalling but it still works the same.
