Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: Newfangled solutions

The wizards should always remember their last value used. These values are stored in the file Newfangled.set.def in The Addons\Newfangled folder. Check to see that this file is not set to read-only. If you copied the wizard from a CD it might have been set read-only

I agree, if the RPM reading good and steady you ought to have a good trigger.

What Mach version are you using? Par port or SS?. There have recently been a LOT of work and changes made to the driver code for threading- see mostly the Yahoo group for lots of detail. If you are runing anythng less than the latest version you are wasting your time.

Ok, it looks like a G540 driver, and thats a very good device. Also a smoothstepper.

You only have 3 switches wired, the Negative in each direction. They are the home position.

You have Z home on Pin 10. Y home on Pin 11 and X home on Pin12

Use the Ports and pins setting and make sure these are the port numbers entered. Also make sure each is set for Active Low- that means the  switch is indicating its condition when it is Low or grounded. Be sure you are set for port 1

The manual you need is the Mach install Manual, see the downloads tab at the top of this page.

what if an admin disagrees with you?

Several of them point to reference material that is often used and ought to be sticky. Maybe the artsoft logo doesnt need to be sticky.

First be sure oyu have all the wiers set right in Ports and pins. Use the diagnostic screen and pus the switches with your finger, one at a  time and observe that correct LED lights for each function- note that the LEDs are labeled M1 M2 M3 instead of X Y Z. no good reason for that, it just is.

On the setttings screen ther eis a button for auto back off limits. Check it, it will let you jog slowly off a limit switch

This is all well explained in the Mach install manual

Id say 'dont do that'

Mach has some standards and conventions. It expects to find screen sets in Mach3 folder. It expects to find wizards in Mach3\Addon\WizName If you put .set files eleswhere Mach wont find them.

Screen 4 can handle it all, you just need to tell it where to put the files- it does not know if you are writing a wizard or a base screen set.

Works in progress / Re: A lathe screew with buit in wizards

At this time I think the combined screen/wizard is a 'feature' and I dont want to give it up, but it would be possible to do a version like that.

The plan now is to use the vb compiled code ability, so without the source you could not edit the screens- as it is with the Newfangled wizards. For a package that is sold it seems to need some kind of code protection.

However, you should be able to lift an entire screen, and its compiled button code to use in your screen. You could not see or edit my buttons, but could drop them onto your screen. Might be tricky, but shold work.
