Windows has a built in screen capture.. Put the mouse in the window you want to copy hold down the ALT key and hit the <print screen> key. That is usually on the very top row, just right of the F keys.

Once you have captured the screen open the windows Paint program and do a PASTE function, That will put you screen capture in Paint, then do a save as and save it as a jpg- be sure to choose jpg, otherwise paint will save a bmp which is huge.

Once you have the screen shot just save that file to a memory stick, take that to the mac browse to this topic and write a message. On the screen you will see a button for Attachments, click that and attach you screen file.

The Gcode can be inserted right into the text box on the browser, just cut and paste.

can you post a copy of the gcode from one of your drilling jobs?

I dont understand your problem. It might also be helpful if you can post a screen shot of the wizard page after you have filled in all the blanks.

I am responsible for the Newfangled wizards, and I try to check this forum at least once each day. I do prefer to keep topics related to the wizards in this section, so I only have to check one place.

I do my best to check at least once a day, sometimes more. And I try to fix issues as quickly as possible.

If you are using the newfangled wizards, then you must be trying to surface the stock. That wizard allows for starting the tool off the edge of the stock, and it allows you to set the stepover by percent. Id guess you have some combination of these values set to cause the 'air cut'

There is a manual for the NFS wizards, you can get it off the documents tab at the top of this page. Most of the screens have pretty obvious descriptions, but some may not be clear, and the manual will explain them. The manual version is old, but the information is  current- the wizards have been fixed for various bugs, but none of the basic operations have changed.

Try to give me a better idea of what you mean by 'air cutting' and Ill see if I can help

I use some of the VB  stuff, like #expand, that was added for the mach std mill screens. I dont recall the first version that worked in, but it was about a year ago.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / NEW!! Drill Wizard
« on: October 05, 2011, 11:30:29 AM »
I have developed a new Drill wizard and added it to the Newfangled Suite.

This wizard is useful for one-off drilling jobs, like doing a base casting for a model engine. You have 2 sets of DROs, one for an absolute postion the other for and incremental move. A third set specifies the drill rapid height, depth, plunge rate and peck increment.

If you want to drill a series of holes you first setup the drill parameters. Then if you have an absolute location you fill in the DROs and click the DoIt button. The move occurs. Then you click the Plunge or Peck button and the drill cycle occurs. Next you could move to another absolute position, or move an increment. If you were going to drill a series of holes all spaced the same distance you could do the whole job by alternately clicking the Inc and Plunge button.

The wizard also has the ability to record a file, so you can both do the immediate job and build a Gcode file to re-use. When you click the Start Record button you are prompted for a file name.

The record function will look for a file named GcodeStart.tap and GcodeEnd.tap, which it will inert into the gcode file it builds.

There is a You tube video showing the operation at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzzoybS-QPQ

the code is attached to this file. Just download it, unzip it into the MAch3\Addons folder and you re ready to go.

If you have a Newfangled license you are unlimited, if not it runs in demo mode and gives you a few moves.

Hope you find this useful

Edit, June 13, 2012
V1.03, Fixed screen size to keep reset and exit buttons showing, and ZeroX label

Edit July 2, 2012
V1.04 Removed use of #Expand so that wizards will work with older version of Mach, mostly for Tormach users

I dont think a reinstall is worth while. If you open the tool table on the settings screen do you have values in that table?

Do you have a standard Mach install, into C:\Mach3?

Your tool table is stored in C:|Mach3\Macros\<profilename>\tools.dat Is that file there?

The wizard cannot create a tool table, it canonly read the description anddiameter values from a table that is saved under the Offsetts screen.

Sorry, I jumped before complete testing.

The tool table works exactly as it should for me. My tool table was empty, so selecting from it showed an empty table. I made a couple entries and it works exactly as it should.

Unless someone has messed with the screen and lost the button code I cannot see anyway the 'select from tool table' button wont at least show a table- it will be empty if your tool table is empty.

I just tried it, and the dialog box opens to make the choice, but the box is empty. That means the VB call to get the tool table is no longer working. Ill have to talk to Brian about this, he must have broken it in a later version.

Can anyone that has this working tell us a version so we can figure when it broke?

The wizard works by generating lines of Gcode and executing them. So you are in fact running a program with it, so feed hold needs a start button. I dont recall why I didnt put one on the screen.

You could hit the reset button twice, that will clear the stop and be ready to run again.
