Thanks for the nice comments, it is always nice to hear.

We have talked about allowing a user defined name for each operation. Its kind of on  the list for a V2

General Mach Discussion / CNC Seminar day at Cabin Fever expo
« on: March 27, 2013, 05:27:16 PM »
I went up to Brians shop today to review our plans for the CNC seminar and got a chance to see Mach4 running, and in particular the new screen designer. All I can say it is just about amazing. Mach screens will now have all the common GUI widgets, like list boxes, tabbed dialogs, images, etc. And its all integrated into one language environment, so all the gui elements share the same code. This is going to make wizard development just amazing.

See it all, Friday, April 12. Cabinfeverexpo.com

I am going to Brians shop tomorrow, we will talk about a better way for me to update the installer. Right now I have to depend on Scott to do it.

You need to run the installer as administrator. Save teh file, right click on it and choose Run as Administrator.

We are trying to follow the microsoft recommended practice, and this happens on win7 and win8

can you save a job file of one of the failed jobs and post it here. The job file is very small, but it contains everything I need to duplicate the job as you see it.

Ok, I found the problem- we set the feed to plunge rate before doing the ramp, then forgot to reset it to feed rate after ramp. This was both linear and helical ramps.

We will post an update soon.

What wizard version are you running? Look in the top right corner of the first screen. If its not 2.86 look at the top entry in this group for the latest kit and install that. I have made fixes to the thread wizard, but I will admit I am still not 100% sure all of the 8 combinations of in/out, lh/rh and climb/conv are correct.

Newfangled Mill Wizard / Re: Install issue
« on: March 14, 2013, 11:52:34 AM »
The installer wants to put the .exe in the  C:\Program Files(x86) folder. On Win7 the system doesnt allow that unless you run as admin. The common way is to right click on the install file name and select 'Run as'

It places the user files in the folder pointed to by $PROFILE which windows sets to the users path. So if you are running in the admin account you wind up with the files under  in C:\Users\admin\Wizards|Mill.

I suspect when you make your own user folder windows doesnt fix the $PROFILE envvar.

Right now I dont know how to get around this, other than to put your user folder where microsoft wants it, or to manually move the folders after the install to your user folder.

I will continue to work on this.

Brian want to include a post option in V2, but that is going to be at least many months (a year?) from now.

We will have demo systems at cabin fever, both in the seminar and on the exhibit floor Saturday and Sunday and you will be able to use one and try whatever you want.
