Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: MAch3 Add-on 'WRITE'
« on: June 21, 2016, 07:23:24 AM »
Write is not part of the newfangled wizard set. It was user contributed and unsupported.

I never did figure out how to use it, maybe someone else has an idea. I would look for one of the simple CAD programs to do any serious text work

The  only thing that does not work in demo mode is looking at or saving the gcode. All the other functions work fine, so you should be able to create tool tables or material tables just fine.

The wizard does not use the TAB screen, so its blank, but the TAB key is built in to mach3 so it still opens the screen. I guess I never thought the TAB jog functions would be needed on a screen that had all the jog control.

I don't understand why the space bar doesn't work- that is a mach3 function and the wizard does not change it. Does the space bar work in normal mach3 screen, not a wizard? There is a  table of hot key  functions in one of the mach config menus that sets these.

Newfangled Mill Wizard / Re: combining arc cuts
« on: April 19, 2016, 04:16:17 PM »
I wizard does not support combining jobs. You can load a job file, but that will replace the previous job. You can, of course, make a job contain as many operations as you need, so 3 arcs in one program is easy.

If you want a job to end with a move to a specific location you can use the user Gcode operation to add whatever move you want.

I dont understand you arc problem and could not find a posting anywhere. You can post photos right here to this topic.

Ok, that is a reasonable view. I assumed that if you were cutting inside the line you wanted to leave the outline so I could clear out anything inside. Likewise for outside I do the ramp outside the part.

Sounds like you want a grove cycle, which does make only a grove, not going inside or outside. It does a zig-zag ramp on the line of cut.

The inner helix is because you requested a tool ramp angle of 30 degrees. We make that ramp a helix is the smoothest way to plunge into work. If you change the ramp angle to 90 the tool will go straight down. Be sure you have a center cutting tool if you do that. The ramp into the work starts at the clearance height specified for the job. It needs to be above the work, but to high and you do some air cutting before the tool gets to he surface.

Your example does point out a problem with the machine max settings-  I don't check the units so assume your max is set to the same units as your job. I should work on that.

I thought I had fixed the feed rate along the path, I will look at that.

thanks for the example,  it always helps to see an example of a reported problem.

OK, I found and fixed the Max Plunge value problem- I had code calling it Plung in a couple places and Plunge in others. Not the same!

That will be in the next release, after I track down a couple other problems.

I have had other mentions of the rogue toolpath in rectangles. can you show me a job file  that does it?

Ok, thanks.  I found the problem. A very strange one, an edit in the code that makes no sense at all, but it changed Arc Slot descriptions to Tool Change. All the rest of the data got imported Ok.

I have a couple other things to look at before I release an update, but hopefully not long.

Will you please post a job file here that shows the problem. They are simple text files so just copy one and attach it here.

Ok, thanks, I see the problem, The label was getting changed after the form was created by the choice of Metric or English units. I have fixed the code, it will be in the next version when I release it. So far that is the only change so its not enough to release.
