General Mach Discussion / imach pendants
« on: March 22, 2014, 09:59:01 PM »
Any issues with them. I am looking for a pendant for manual machining and jogging. I will use my touch screen for running code. I don't have 2 inputs available to add a mpg and currently use the screen pendant, so I liked the idea of the usb based unit. Anything else to look into?

General Mach Discussion / Shifting zero, losing steps??
« on: September 07, 2013, 11:28:26 AM »
Not sure but I assume I am losing steps.  As I turned my motor tuning way down and got the same results, so I don't think I have a stepper stalling issue.  If I run a square pattern, basically .010" off each side around a part for .250 or so whem I get done my zero has moved always in the same directions.  Was about .100 but I turned off CV and set it for exact and now it's about .010".  Any idea?  Pulse width problem? I changed the active hi state of the step pins and it got worse so I put it back.  Turned the motor down to a crawl and seems the same.  I was just cutting 2 sides and was rapiding on the no cut sides, I change those to G1's and got the same results.

General Mach Discussion / Multiple limits and homing
« on: June 20, 2013, 09:12:54 PM »
Can I share multible home switches on one input.  Right now I use one prox with 2 flags one for + and - limit/home switches and it homes fine.  But I am out of inputs and want to add some things without going to modbus or something like that.  So can I use one input for mulitble axis?  I know it will work electrically but will it work in mach or will I get a limit trip when homing?
Thanks,
Don

General Mach Discussion / axis zero moved
« on: June 17, 2013, 08:55:00 AM »
I am still working bugs out of the system but I can't see why this happened.  It's a simple mill conversion.  Twice running one set of code my y0 moved by about .500", consistantly to the same spot each time.  The other 10 times or so I ran the program it stayed put.  I figured it was a glitch I forgot about it.  Yesterday it happened again in a different program.  I simple drill counterbore of 2 holes.  It just never moved to the second location and when I stopped everything and hit go to zero I was off by exactly distance between the holes.  So exact I put it in set mode and  jogged over that amount and rezeroed the y axis and reran the program and it worked fine and did so for the remaining 3 parts.  Where should I start looking to prevent this from happening again.  I am also still using demo mode, it this something with that?  I need to register it anyway, just wanted to get it all working first.  But no reason I can't buy the license now.

General Mach Discussion / speed sensor/lathe threading
« on: June 14, 2013, 04:25:10 PM »
What are some available options to add a speed senser so I can thread with my lathe.  I am using a breakout board via parallel port and have a couple inputs available.
Thanks,
Don

General Mach Discussion / Spindle speed control
« on: May 29, 2013, 08:16:53 AM »
I got quick help last time so here's another one.  My board outputs a 0-10vdc signal for spindle speed control, what do I need to get to convert it to replace the existing speed pot on the drive? Here is the drive specs.
Thanks,
Don

General Mach Discussion / tool request light
« on: May 25, 2013, 03:04:10 PM »
I do manual tool changes and use the m06 code and in general config have it stop spindle and wait for restart.  All that works great but how to I either edit the macro to turn on an output to add a tool requested light like the one that flashing on the screen?  I need a remote light and have a few extra outputs available on my breakout board.  Or if easier is there a m code the turns on outputs or can I make one?
Thanks,
Don
