Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Can i edit or add to a Predefined Macro?

Hi smurph,
thanks for the explanation. What would happen if a cam program called m03.Does the leading zero get stripped in that
instance as well?

Hi,
done it again...

Named m5:
Code: [Select]
function m5();
local inst=mc.mcGetInstance();
local hcont=mc.mcRegGetHandle(inst,"modbus0/spinCntrl");
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst, 0);
mc.mcRegSetValue(hcont,01);
end
if (mc.mcInEditor() == 1) then
    m5()
end
.

Once you've got these installed you should be able to turn the spindle on and off from the CW or CCW buttons on the screen or
alternately from calling m3/m4/m5 from MDI or Gcode.

Have not as yet set the speed, will work on that shortly.

Hi Zuxztah,
whoops, mistroke...

As I was saying I may have some working code for you to try...

Substitute your CW button left-up script with:

Code: [Select]
local inst = mc.mcGetInstance();
local sigh = mc.mcSignalGetHandle(inst, mc.OSIG_SPINDLEON);
local sigState = mc.mcSignalGetState(sigh);
if (sigState == 1) then;
    local rc = mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst,"m5");
else;
    local rc = mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst,"m3");
end;

Substitue your CCW button left-up script with:

Code: [Select]
local inst = mc.mcGetInstance();
local sigh = mc.mcSignalGetHandle(inst, mc.OSIG_SPINDLEON);
local sigState = mc.mcSignalGetState(sigh);
if (sigState == 1) then;
    mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst,"m5");
else;
    mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst,"m4");
end;

Now you need three macros in your Profile/Macros folder...

Named m3:

Code: [Select]
function m3();
local inst=mc.mcGetInstance();
local hcont=mc.mcRegGetHandle(inst,"modbus0/spinCntrl");
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst,1);
mc.mcRegSetValue(hcont,10);
end
if (mc.mcInEditor() == 1) then
    m3()
end

Named m4:
Code: [Select]
function m4();
local inst=mc.mcGetInstance();
local hcont=mc.mcRegGetHandle(inst,"modbus0/spinCntrl");
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst,-1);
mc.mcRegSetValue(hcont,10);  -- substitute 10 with whatever number is required to make your spindle run CCW
end
if (mc.mcInEditor() == 1) then
    m4()
end

Named m5:

Hi Zuxztah,
think I may have some working code:

Hi,
thanks, naming m3 worked.

I'm guessing that I'm now calling a distinct macro (m3) whereas the internal function is m03. This is a workaround rather
than a solution, or rather an understanding of whats going on. I'll take whatever I can get!

Thanks again,
Craig

Hi Zuxztah,
struggling to get it to work myself.

As it turns out if you execute:
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst, 1) the CW LED operates,
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst, -1)  the CCW LED operates and
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst, 0)  both LEDs extinguish.

So getting the LEDs to work it just a case of executing one of the above at the right time.

What I really want is three customised macros m03, m04 and m05. I've written the macros and they work when debugging
but they do not 'overwrite' the Mach4 internal functions of the same name as I expected. I've put out a call for help on another
thread.

The CW button script will look like this:
Code: [Select]
local inst = mc.mcGetInstance();
local sigh = mc.mcSignalGetHandle(inst, mc.OSIG_SPINDLEON);
local sigState = mc.mcSignalGetState(sigh);
if (sigState == 1) then;
    local rc = mc.mcCntlGcodeExecute(inst,"m03");
else;
    local rc = mc.mcCntlGcodeExecute(inst,"m05");
end;

Once I've worked out how to call the customised m03 (or m05 as the case may be) I post back.

Hi,
I need to customise m03,m04 and m05.

I have written the macros and they run ok in the debugger. If I call them from the MDI line the Mach4 internal functions run and
ignore my customised macros.

Code: [Select]
function m03();
local inst=mc.mcGetInstance();
mc.mcCntlSetLastError(inst,"My m03");
local hcont=mc.mcRegGetHandle(inst,"modbus0/spinCntrl");
mc.mcSpindleSetDirection(inst,1);
mc.mcRegSetValue(hcont,10);
end
if (mc.mcInEditor() == 1) then
    m03()
end

As you can see I'm trying to write to a Modbus register in addition to the normal function. I set the 'Last Error' message just to indicate
whether my script runs or not.

Hi,
some years ago my old XP machine was so unreliable I bought an Atom based single board computer wih PP and installed
Window 7 Embedded. I chose the Embedded version of the OS because I could leave big chunks of stuff out at my
choice rather than everything MS insists I have. It has worked a treat. The upshot is tho that PP runs fine under
Windows 7 depending on the particular motherboard. Have a look at the board in this forum 'Mach3 under Vista',
some good tips there for making your PC behave.

I have recently upgraded to Mach4 and a SmoothStepper external motion controller using the same PC. I certainly
support Ger's comments about an external controller, I should have done it a while ago whether I upgraded to Mach4
or not. Once you get one setup much smoother and stable motion. The chances are you will get one sooner or later,
I recommend sooner.

Hi JulioAlvarez,
easiest way to fix is just change the pin assignments.

Try Ystep=2
      Ydir =3
That should ensure that the Y motor moves with the Y DRO. Leave the Z assignments alone.
I'm guessing that you stepper drivers are mixed up inside your controller. As an experiment try

Xstep=8
Xdir= 9

Do you have a manual for the controller/drivers?

Hi JulioAlarez,
clearly you have the pins assigned to the incorrect drivers.

Can you post a screen shot of your Ports and Pins/Motor Outputs page.
