General Mach Discussion / Re: KX1 with Mach3 not talking to computer

Hi John,
the DriverTest.exe is fine.

I notice a few errors in the other screens tho. You are also guily of trying to get too much going at once and in fact not achieving anything.

Your E stop input is OK. All your other inputs are rubbish. First disable ALL Limits and Home switches. You don't need them yet.
Likewise disable the spindle on the output pins page, you don't need it yet.

On the input pins page you will have seen that pins 10-13 and 15 are available as inputs....whereas you have nominated pins 0, which doesn't
exist and pin 1 which is an output pin.

To start with you only need one input, an Estop. Estop's are usually active low, so when the pin is taken to low voltage the machine goes into
emergency shutdown. The only outputs you need to start with are the motor outputs...everything else is just confusing the issue.

Hi Dave,
whats stopping you from doing it now? As far as I can tell with an indexable spindle you can do it.

Hi John,
can you post those pics?

Hi David,
yes Roger, RICH and I have rather hijacked your thread but as you say it is interesting and  least loosely related to your post.

Cutting a hex into a spinning shaft is very impressive, would require untold acceleration in X axis.

Under that circumstance the spindle is no longer a spindle according to some definitions but becomes a C axis. Like any axis to be worthy of its name
it has to be capable of co-ordinated motion. Given that you already have step/dir control of your spindle you can claim 'axis' status for it and so you could
as it stands replicate what you have seen.

As I've said before you have made a substantial investment in your spindle drive and the capability it confers is impressive and exceeds a lot of pro gear
and 99.9% of hobby gear. Kick back and enjoy.

Hi Roger,
RICH raises an excellent point about people wanting instant gratification without any work.

Just think about the number of posts on this forum alone where someone has bought some gear, spent
half an hour assigning pins etc on a 'by guess or by God' basis and then straight onto the forum asking
questions...grumpily. To suggest that they read and then reread the installation manual is ignored 90%
of the time.

Any manufacturer of technical software, Artsoft and Warp9 being the two in focus in this thread, are
really 'sticking their neck in a noose' because so many customers will complain/whinge/demand satisfaction
when it doesn't work straight out of the box and forget reading the manual, the manual is just a source
of paper for wrapping rubbish!

Hi RICH,

ain't that the truth!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Connection of Mach3 to TB6600 Drivers
« on: September 23, 2017, 02:11:33 PM »
Hi,
you have the opportunity to set full or half step. In full step mode 200 pulses are required to drive a motor one revolution, in
half step mode 400 pulses are required.

Those drivers blow up a lot. If you don't want that to happen DON'T power them up! When you get sick of replacing them have a look
at Gecko drivers, expensive but you only ever have to buy them once.

Hi,
your home inputs are wrong.

Looking at the last pic you posted you have all home input assigned to port 1 which is fine
but input pins 0 ,1, 2. There is no pin 0. Pins 1 and 2 are output pins.
On the page you may have noted that the input pins available  are 10-13 and 15. Usually one input pin is assigned for an Estop, commonly one pin
for a series combination of limit switches. That leaves three inputs left. X home, Y home and Z home is a fair choice but you'll not have any inputs
left for a probe say.

In the first instance its probably a good idea to have one input for each limit switch. Suggest hook your X home switch to pin 11, Y home to pin 12
and Z home to pin 13. Once you have them hooked up manually flick each switch in turn while watching Machs diagnostic page, you should see
the LEDs corresponding to each switch operate.

Hi,
can you post screen shots of the first four page of Config/Ports and Pins?

Also a screenshot of Config/Homing-Limits would help too.

Hi Roger,
if you want to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in I too would be a starter, I don't consider myself brilliant at programming but have had a few
wins along the way, including assembler.
