Hi Hakan,
kool, that is very much what I had in mind for your machine.

Only a week or so ago you were convinced that you couldn't write or didn't want to write any Lua code now you're doing it on your own!

An alternative that you might wish to explore in the future is having another macro, m100 for instance, that when called does things like
record the name of the current G code file, the line number being executed.....and so on. All the features you might require in a shutdown script.
In the case of your m3, m4 or m5 scripts an unresponsive spindle might qualify as a shutdown event. If that were the case you'd substitute

mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst,'m100') for your current shutdown statement mc.mcCntlCycleStop(inst, 0).

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: How to use G28.1 on Mach4?
« on: October 20, 2017, 02:51:10 PM »
Hi zarsss,
there is no 'Ref All Home' instruction in G code. Mach4 has a function like that or you could code your own if you wanted something a bit special.

You would have a macro, m100, for instance, and in that macro there would be a call to Machs 'Ref All Home' function or other Lua code of your choice.
Whenever you want to 'Ref All Home' in G code you'd write m100....easy!

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: USB port setting
« on: October 20, 2017, 02:40:57 PM »
Hi Daniel,
welcome to the forum.

This board is for issues relating to Mach4 and will be read by many fewer persons than if it were on the main Mach3 board. If you are just starting out then you
probably have yet to make the choice between Mach3 and Mach4. I have licences for both and have used both for making PCBs. You will eventually have to buy
a licence for one of them with Mach3 being slightly cheaper. All development has stopped on Mach3, Mach4 is still growing and expanding. Many current Mach3
users are so used to Mach3 and it many features/quirks/customisations that they actively dislike Mach4...which is a fair opinion....but they also miss out on the
flexibility that Mach4 and its new software environment. Your choice. You can download both and experiment with Demo versions until you decide.

As far as USB vs parallel port. If you have a USB controller then the software to set it up is provided by the manufacturer, they are all different.
Do you actually have a controller? Can you post a pic? What model is it and do you have documentation and/or software that goes with it?
If you don't have one...don't get one UNTIL you have done a little research, there are hundreds of Chinese units out there and the only thing to recommend
them is that they're cheap. A few hours reading on the forum and you'll find dozens of posts from people who struggle or fail to get them to work and even
then they don't do certain things. My advice is 'Don't go there'.

The <profile>.xml file is the info that Mach uses so that it knows your machine. When you first fire up Mach it will look for xml files and you can choose which one
you want to use for this session. Put the file provided, suitably named, like danielmach3.xml in your Mach3 folder and then start Mach.

General Mach Discussion / Re: DRO are not to set valeu in it
« on: October 20, 2017, 02:14:26 PM »
Hi,
is the machine 'Enabled' when you try to write direct to a DRO? Its the big 'Reset' button at the lower left, if its blinking the machine is disabled and nothing
will happen, when continuously light the machine is enabled. If you hit the button and it refuses to stay continuously light then you have a continuing Estop
signal from your controller board prevent the machine from being enabled and you'll need to fix that before Mach will do anything.

General Mach Discussion / Re: 3040T and Z Touchplate
« on: October 20, 2017, 02:05:48 PM »
Hi Billy,
once you've got your machine to the point that it will faithfully follow the G code it is given, and it sounds like you are close, the 'real'
work of CNC begins.

If there is anything like 'creative' work of genuine skill and experience its crafting the G code for your machine to 'digest'. You may get away buying a cheap Chinese
router but if you expect poor CAD/CAM software to produce acceptable results you're dreaming. Amongst the skills that you'll need to acquire is to be able to read
small sections of G code and understand what the machine will do when it encounters it.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Probe not stopping "Z" axis
« on: October 20, 2017, 01:49:26 PM »
Hi John,
yes G21/G20 changes units and its modal. So if a G21 is issued the machine will interpret all motion codes as mm and stay that way UNTIL a G20 is issued.

Quote
Am I telling you the wrong thing, its a Probe which sets the hight of the "Z" axis prior to starting a job i.e clip on drill or router and when point touches the metal plate it stops the "Z" axis.
Yes this is one of the most common of the probing procedures. A G31 code is issued to cause the probing cycle. Can you post the G31 code that you are using?

Hi Billy,
the second sample I see as a whole line of the letter 'a' all linked together. It looks like the tool doesn't retract between letters. Is this what you
want?. Its certainly the Gcode you've given your machine.

Hi John,
this is called 'CNC', the first letter stands for 'computer', when in your experience have anything to do with computers gone smoothly?

Probing is done with a G31 code. How is that code generated? Can you post a sample of it?

Hi John,
my apologies it is my confusion not yours. The LED on the diagnostics page is called Digitize but on Machs inputs page its called Probe.

Hi John,
just double check that you have assigned the input Probe to a valid pin. What port and what pin?

It may be that the Digitize LED is confusing you, I think (I'm not near a machine) Digitise is actually an output.
Hopefully just a confusion in terms.
