General Mach Discussion / Re: Probe not stopping "Z" axis

Hi,
I haven't tried it myself but as I understand it the webcam has a cross-hair reticle, you place the cross hair on your target feature and hit a button.
How that data is used I imagine is up to you.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Backlash on X axis changes to A axis

Hi,
do you have backlash enabled?

Config/Backlash   all distance settings should be zero and <Backlash Enabled> should be unchecked <OK> and restart Mach3

Hi John,
I think a video probe is your best bet, try Video Probing board.

Hi.
Quote
The X axis of my CNC has two stepper motors (X and A) and has ballscrews in all the axis. When I move the machine along the X direction, it turns back aprox 6mm on the A stepper motor and then it goes to the correct direction.

That does not sound like backlash. Backlash is where the nut slops backward and forwards because of the gap in the thread. The whole point of ballscrews is to
eliminate backlash. Can you post an up-close picture of one of the ballscrews?

In the lower right hand side of Mach3 is the name of the profile. In the Mach3 folder find the file <profile name>.xml. Create a copy <gibventure>.xml and post it
so we can have a look at how your machine is set up.

Hi,
all development of Mach3 ceased some time ago, what it is.....is what it will remain. Mach4 is current and still developing.

Hi,
do you actually have images of artwork that you want to turn into a PCBs or are you looking to design  boards from scratch?

Hi John,
check out the Video Probing board of the forum.

I use Eagle software to produce PCB artwork then there is a User Language Program (PCB-Gcode) which converts the artwork into Gcode.
I personally have not seen any program that can take a visual image of a circuit board and produce Gcode. It sounds more like something
people doing artistic engraving might know something about.

Ill try and find a link for the book. I see my copy is 140Mb so it won't attach to an email comfortably.

Hi Billy,
that's good news....or is it?. I repair welding equipment for a living and a lot of Chinese gear comes in. Where there is service info about 50% of it
so badly written or just plain mistaken that it is literally worse than useless. This isn't just a bad translation its gibberish!

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Jogging while doing a tool change?
« on: October 23, 2017, 06:02:20 AM »
Hi Daz,
yes that's a good solution if you know the co-ords you need to go to for each facing tool. OP asked about jogging the tool into a suitable position
and that is a bit trickier. It requires, to my knowledge, that the cycle be stopped so jogging is active, then probing, then restarting the Gcode job.

Wallerwang, what do you wish to do?. As Daz points out if you know your facing tools there is a simple extension to your existing macro. If you want to
jog the tool...well that's harder.

Maybe you could try both...the easy one first and 'build up a head of steam' before the tricky one.

Hi,
and this code works ok, ie automatically with ordinary tools?

Do you have a specific tool number or numbers for which you require the ability to jog?

My thinking goes that this macro should run as is except say for tools 6,7 and 8 all being facing tools. In which case they will necessarily do a cycle stop so
you can jog and then restart with your runprobe function.
