FAQs / Re: Z Axis and machine coords
« on: November 06, 2017, 05:12:32 AM »
Hi,
commonly machine co-ord Z=0 is the very top of the Z axis travel.

You say the work co-ords are working OK. Then the machine co-ords must be working too, the work co-ords are just a numerically shifted copy of the machine
co-ords after all.

Can you explain a bit more about what you see and why you consider it faulty?

General Mach Discussion / Re: new setup issues
« on: November 06, 2017, 12:56:47 AM »
Hi,
got your xml and it all looks OK.

I would change the kernel frequency to 25kHz. You'll need to restart your PC for it to be effective.

I suspect that your control box needs a signal from Mach to enable it. Do you have any documentation for the controller? If it does require a signal without some
indication as to what that signal is and what pin its on is going to be hard to find, just a guess really.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: computer requirements for mach 4
« on: November 05, 2017, 10:53:40 PM »
Hi,
yes I think your XP box would work. Why don't you try it out. If you don't load a motion control plugin you can run
as Demo no probs. Even if you load a plugin it will still run for 5-6 minutes before it needs to be reset.
Long enough for you to work out whether its worth getting a new licence for it.

Modbus / Re: Who can I call to help me setup this automation direct vfd
« on: November 05, 2017, 10:09:42 PM »
Hi,
given that the three registers you need are consecutive you could do the whole lot in one cfg.

My proposal to do it in three cfg's was because I had now idea how to set up a block of six bytes for Modbus
to transmit as three consecutive 16 bit words.

Hi,
kool, I came across something similar with my Delta VFD where I had to drop the leading digit.
If memory serves I could have used Hex representation without change.

See if you can't  find the frequency resolution. Another thread, another VFD the frequency had a resolution
of 0.01HZ, so 400Hz actual required a numeric input of 40000.

Hi,
starting to make some progress. Can you post a screen pic of the Modbus setup page.

I think that timeout your experiencing is when the Modbus plugin sends a message it expects an acknowledgement,
if it doesn't get one within  the specified time it faults out.

If you change the comm protocol provided you reprogram P 9.02 to the appropriate setting so the drive knows how
Modbus intends signalling you should be fine. If you are of the opinion that the previuos setting of 8,1,o is better then
by all means change it. Read the manual to find the appropriate number for parameter 9.02.

Hi,
the Demo is the regular software, one and the same. All that is required to turn Demo into fullhouse Mach
is a licence file.

Mach3 software is very generous, you may have as many copies of Mach3 as you like as a hobbyist. One per machine
if in business.

This licencing arrangement has allowed widespread abuse with many pirate copies out there. As a consequence Mach4
licencing has changed where each individual PC is licenced. As a hobbyist you may have five machines. If you change
PC you release the previous licence and get a new one for the new PC. You may do this up to 7 times in 2 years.
In business you require an industrial licence at $1400US per machine.

Mach4 is licence free provided you use Sim(ulator) motion plugin, with any other motion plugin your PC is deemed to be machine
capable and falls under the usual licencing conditions. Demo in Mach4 runs for about 5-6 minutes before it shuts down. Enough
to see if it will work but not long enough to do a real job.

If you have bought a licence...good on you!...we will see you about...CNC is not a hobby but an obession...you poor sick little
puppy!

Hi,
from the first pic you uploaded it doesn't look like you've done anything I've suggested.

The port number you must discover for yourself by using Windows Device Manager and finding the port your 485 adapter
is plugged into.

Have you programmed your drive P 9.02 and P 3.00 yet?

If you apply the cfg's the starting address is in each one.

Hi Billy,
yes thats OK. If you are using it for a business you are expected to buy a licence for each machine you are driving
with it but for an office PC that is not actually controlling a machine you don't.

In fact IF the PC you are using can't control a machine, ie it has no PP or motion plugin then even as Demo it will
run without line limit that normally applies to Mach3 Demo.

General Mach Discussion / Re: A axis will only run one way

Hi,
Quote
I changed the Active Low for the Dir pin, still the same direction.
tends to make me think that the driver is faulty.

Could you explain in a little more detail:
Quote
I also switched the cable and used one of the other drive, still only one direction.

I think that G28 A0 code will send the machine to machine zero via A0. Is that what you wanted?
G28 is not commonly used in Gcode programs.
