Hi Thomas,
the key to understanding was OPs last post where he described the servo speeding up as he increased the 'steps per' but up to a 'ceiling'.

That tells me that the controller/BoB is not signaling or capable of signaling at a respectable rate. My set of figures requires 114kHz pulse rate and I suspect
his controller is maxing out at around 25kHz. A genuine ESS can go to 4MHz!

good luck with that! This guy has done it before and been called on it and is quite happy to carry on.

It looks like a good machine otherwise, I would do as tweakie suggests, get a fresh copy of .062, you already have a licence and carry on.

Over the years there must be thousands of pirate Mach3 copies around, trying to catch them for $175 each is a hiding to nowhere. I rather suspect however that NFS
would be more proactive about ripoff Mach4 copies, it is after all the company flagship and will be its lifeblood in OEM sales.

yeah those numbers would work too. I am beginning to think that OP doesn't have an ESS at all but one of those HM4...whatevers and it can't keep up.
There may be a set of parameters which would work, I suspect you'd lose a lot of resolution though. Seems a bit silly to spend big bucks getting a 1hp
servo and a good one at that, way better than the cheap run of the mill Chinese crap servos, only to get a Chinese control board that 'couldn't pull the skin off a
rice pudding'.

Hi,
Mach coordinates motion so that if two axes move they begin at the same time and end their motion, even uneven distances traveled at the same time.

Machs Planner is responsible for deciding how the coordinated moves should happen and then commits that data to the motion controller (read parallel port if
that's your motion controller), once its there Mach can't do anything about it, its committed.

If you want Mach to zigzag along an otherwise straight path you can program a series of moves, a 'zig' followed by a 'zag' repeatedly until the weld is complete.
What you cant do is program Mach to go in a straight line, say x=0 to x=12 inches, commit that to the controller and THEN introduce the sideways zigs and zags.
You might if you had manual access to the sideways motor jiggle it backwards and forwards to simulate the path that you want but as far as Mach is concerned its
doing the straight line you asked it to.

Do either of those solutions sound like they might work?

if I'm not mistaken you can programmatically turn off individual enable signals, the motor would stop. It may not then be necessary to unmap it, so long
as it stopped.

looks like a motion controller.

Hi,
if you are using a pretty standard BoB then you'll use diagram C3-1 on page 3-30. Note your BoB will require standing 24V at open collector.

Really, REALLY need the info about your BoB.

Hi,
just noticed a small detail with the motor tuning, the steps per is 587 in the pic and they should be 571. Small detail, its not whats stopping it from working.
When we do get it going then you'll want it accurate.
