Hi,
I think Mach as it ships has two lines of code, one which includes X and Y axes and the other, like your example,
has code affecting the Z axis only.

If you go to the screen load script you will find it and then you can make the choice as to which code runs
and suits your machine and expectations.

Hi,
use 'Additional Options' to the lower left of the text input box. It wiil allow you to browse to a file to attach.

Note that if the Mach Forum detects that you have already posted a file which will sometimes happen if you bobble a post you will have to rename it to re-post.

The correct way to scale axes is to use G50 and G51. You could make an on screen button which MDIs a G50 which would scale that particular Gcode file or until
a G51.

Another possibility is to change the 'Steps per Unit', this could be done programmatically but I think most would regard it as poor practice. The APIs for such purposes were
intended as configuration aids not as regularly used programmatic tools.

Hi,
the catch is that with an encoder count of 160,000 and no electronic gearing, that is numerator equal denominator then at 685 rpm the pulse rate
would be 1.82 MHz which is totally unrealistic. The evidence you have is that your controller can handle about 18kHz, a factor of 100 too slow!

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Homing Speed v3481
« on: March 23, 2018, 11:38:29 PM »
Hi,
Tom is right, Warp9's ESS allows you to program approach and backoff speeds. I don't believe it was always this way, I suspect it has changed with the
later plugin builds from Warp9, there have been half a dozen in the last year or so.

The point being that it can be done, its not dependent on Mach4 doing something....to whit....the ESS already does it.

To give CSlabs their due their Mach4 plugin is still pretty new and by their own admission its a work in progress. Its not uncommon for a controller/plugin manufacturer
to claim that it requires some feature in Mach4 that NFS has yet to provide that prevents them from supporting some feature. I saw a response that Mach4 was lacking
and therefore CNCDrive could not support THC. That patently untrue, Vital Systems Hicon board makes a very good job of THC with exactly the same Mach4 build.
In this instance I think CSLabs are telling porkies too, if they wish to support different approach and backoff speeds they can, they just havr to roll up their sleeves.

Hi,
thanks guys, that will work fine.

Hi,
as to your second query you may have noted the responses in this thread:

http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,36879.0.html

And Daz has a video of exactly what you require:

Hi,

Quote
Why wasn't that just incorporated in to mach 4 as it was in mach 3?

The reason is because Mach4 is NOT Mach3 and never will be.

For NFS to survive commercially they have to sell and Hobbyist and one off Industrial licence sales just wont do it, there is just not enough income to employ
staff and run a business. That requires OEM sales and lots of them.

OEMs have the clues and expertise to program Mach4 and their machines pretty much anyway they please due to Mach4's flexibility. As a Hobbyist you will
HAVE TO do the same. NFS is not going to waste time and resources because a hobbyist cant or cant be bothered to customize Mach to their liking.

That means for most of us that Mach4 is a distinct learning challenge, some refuse to take up the challenge, some drop out finding it beyond them and some
persevere. I have persevered, to date at least, and still really only scratching the surface but have found immense satisfaction in doing so. Further, among the regulars
on the forum this is a common theme, struggled at the beginning but once you get going really really luv it!

Hi,
if I had the controller I might be able to do something with it, I have an oscilloscope (three acatually, two mine and the boss one) and have used them extensively for
years. What I would be looking to do would be to characterize the output circuit of the pin for which you want to run the step pulse.

Is it open collector? Will it withstand 24V? What current will it sink? How fast can it signal when sinking 5mA say?

These questions should really be answered by the manufacturer. If you had a look a look at the Warp9 website you will find page after page on the ESS, input characterization,
output characterization, communication, setup and more, much much more. Likewise you'd find very detailed documents on the CNCDrive, PoKeys, PMDX and Vital Systems
websites. They all maintain a board on the Third Party section of this forum as well as having there own forums plus technical backup via email.
These companies have been suppling the Mach market for years and are good at it.

You need to lean on the supplier of your board. If they are unwilling to help ditch them and NEVER spend a cent with them EVER again. Its only when we as customers
boycott these a-holes that they'll get the message.

Mach4 General Discussion / Functions vs Actions
« on: March 23, 2018, 01:38:44 PM »
Hi All,
when using the keyboard plugin you can assign a function to each defined key, the functions in the drop down list are of the form JogX+, JogA--
for example. A poster in another thread is looking to use keyboard short cuts for estop and feedhold for instance.

In the screen editor buttons have events LeftUpAction  and LeftDownAction and the drop down list of Actions include all the features required by our poster.

Is there a way of making the Actions available as choices as keyboard shortcuts?
