Hi,
you haven't specified what type of PC you are using and therefore I have no idea whether you can use a parallel port.

Hi,
sounds like the parallel port of your PC has 3.3V output levels.

Is the BoB you are using 3.3V capable? If it is expecting 5V inputs it might describe your situation.

Hi,
that budget is very tight. What PC with what OS are you using?. If its a desktop machine with Windows7 32 bit or earlier you can use a parallel port
which is free. Combine that with a Gecko 540 which is a combined BoB and 4 axis driver would be a good combination.

If its a laptop or uses a 64 bit OS then you'll need an external motion controller. A UC100, a PMDX-411 are two good examples, combined with a G540.
The controllers are $120 and the G540 is $300.

Hi,
blue LEDs have a forward voltage drop of about 3.3V and so with a what may be a 3.3V port the LED
would not light reliably. A red LED has a forward drop of around 1.2V and is suitable.

Hi,

Quote
In my opinion, this card is not at all bad hardware, but I supose that Mach4 specification is not implemented as required. Ignoring the customers feedback will not make this card any better :-)

Given the investment made to produce good hardware, by your own description, it seems really weird that XHC would
not continue its firmware development to at the least match the standard of the hardware.

I have commented before that some of these companies are just selling houses, they cant do any technical development.
Previous posters have suggested that XHC is the developer/manufacturer but their behaviour suggests otherwise.

Hi,
kool, great work. I take it the good hardware has helped?

Hi,
if indeed it is just a line of code then no X and Y should not move. That line of code though looks like it came straight from the Go To Zero function.

Hi,
just re-reading your post, you may note that the default encoder  is 2500 ppr or count of 10,000 per rev.
You could program it to 40,000 ppr or 160,000 count per rev but why? You gain a whole bunch of resolution
which you can't use. Don't bother with it....an encoder count of 10,000 gives you plenty as is and should be in
the sweet spot for signaling if only the controller would play ball.

Has the supplier of the controller come back to you yet?

Hi All,
doesn't sound like XHC have done themselves any favours, the majority of their customers have had a bad experience
and given the boards the flick.

If I'm not mistaken Alex He has been known to contribute to the forum and I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in on this thread.
It may well be that he wishes to avoid criticism which is only human but if no-one from XHC responds it rather confirms
the suspision that they don't care about what happens to their customers.

Hi Roger,
I too use Homans BoBs and back when I was still using PP I powered the Homan BoB by USB. The USB
did not have any signal capability just a convenient way to plug your device (BoB) into the PC power.
