Hi,
Perske is a very good brand, so is Yaskawa and they are both very expensive.

The VFD is for an asynchronous motor and step/direction is not possible, that requires a servo type motor.
The VFD and spindle are very good indeed, I suspect that if yo set to 20000 rpm it will do it whether you
believe it of not.

You could put an index sensor on the spindle and have Mach count it out to confirm what speed its doing.
I am inclined to think that your PWM to DC converter is not linear.

For the work you are doing and the size tools (bits are for woodworkers) you are using just set it to run at maximum
and leave it be.

Quite frankly I think trying to buggerize with that spindle is wasting your time, you could very much more profitably
work on a flood coolant or air cooling solution.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Seeking some help on "drifting" X axis

Hi,
re-reading your post it already sounds like you've tried that.

Hi,
your X axis is either gaining or loosing steps.

Go though and double check that the couplings are snug and the stepper motor shaft is not slipping.

Can you swap drivers, say take the z axis driver out of service and use it in the X axis drivers place?

Hi,

Is conventional milling something I would be OK using a 3/16" O-flute on 1/4" 6061 alum sheets?
If your machine is sufficiently rigid and without backlash the climb milling is preferred. There is extensive discussion on the net as to why
that is the case.

Should I be setting this up with step and dir outputs?
Does the spindle have a step/direction drive? From what you have described I don't think so. what make and model is the spindle motor?
What sort of spindle controller do you have? Can you post some pics?

Hi,
the encoder in the servo is fixed and the drive is setup to handle the resolution.

The encoder outputs from the drive to the CSMIO are synthesized. They can be programmed at different resolution.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: DRO,s scaling error
« on: August 28, 2018, 08:05:13 AM »
Hi,
welcome......you poor sick little puppy! ::)

I have not seen that problem myself but there have been some posts about it. The last time it was discussed smurph, one of the Mach4 gurus
has been alerted to the problem and was anticipating a fix for it.

If I'm not mistaken it does not happen all the time but as a result of a specific sequence of events. Does that fit your description?
I'll try to find the thread and link you to it.

Hi,
kool!

So many people turn up here having bought something only to find it doesn't work as advertised and the Chinese suppliers might as well
be on a different planet, they cant be bothered helping you.

I am one of several regulars on the forum who've seen people spend money on Chinese electronics often with a poor result. Ask your self 'If
I bought this machine and threw away the electronics and replaced them with something better' would it still be worth it?
A US or European external controller, $150-$250, maybe three good stepper drivers at $75 each. If you planned on spending that bit extra you could take
what may prove to be a dog to something much MUCH better.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Coordinates don’t change

Hi,
those numbers mean that the PC cannot pulse regularly.

You can set the kernel speed to whatever you like but it won't change the underlying problem, that PC is doing a rubbish job of
running Mach's parallel port. Try a different PC OR use a SmoothStepper.

Hi,
yes it is very common for encoders to have very high resolutions.

Delta 17 bit absolute encoders are 131072 count per rev.
Delta 20 bit incremental are 1048576 count per rev
Delta 24 bit multi turn can have +128 to -127 turns and 65536 count per rev within any given turn.

The encoder outputs to the CSMIO will be synthesized from the raw encoder. Thus it is very unlikely that you would choose to have such
a high resolution, way more than is practical unless you like to brag and 'do something that your mother warned you would make you go blind'.

Hi,
Quote
so i can't cast money away to a 'more'pro machine like Nextcnc, is almost 2x the price...
Where does this come from? Both Gerry an I recommended a better external motion controller, I like the SmoothStepper, $190US
and Gerry is partial to CNCDrive products like the UC300, $145US. We did not say 'go out and spend double the money' at all!

It seems also that you bought something without doing much research. The questions like 'what sort of PC and what kind of OS I need'
should have been answered BEFORE you buy not after.

Get in touch with whomever sold you the thing and get them to supply the plugin required. The plugin is specific to the controller,
no one here can help with that, you have to get it from whoever made the controller. I use a SmoothStepper so I have to go the
SmoothStepper website and get the plugin for it. If I have any problems I can ask the guys who make it....they have a forum
staffed five days a week just to answer problems I and other users may have. Superb service. I hope you get the same.
