Hi,
additionally I notice you are using incremental moves. What is your step per unit vale for the Z axis?

Craig

3442
Hi,
try moving further, 1 inch is my suggestion.

Do not reset between cycles and you want at least ten cycles. THEN compare the beginning and end points.

Craig

Hi,
yes you can use a capacitor, it behaves in a broadly similar manner to debounce.

If you connect a 0.1uF (approx....any value between 0.01uF and 1uF will work) capacitor between the limit switch input of your
BoB and 0V will help with noise suppression.

Many users of plasmas have reported this issue, especially if your plasma uses HF start.

You may have to consider using home switches to reference your machine and use soft limits thereafter. Occasional noise glitches
on your home switch circuits will do no harm. The plasma will not be operating at the time of homing and therefore the only time when
the machine is vulnerable to noise impulses the 'noisy' bit is not operating.

Hi,
there is no 'steps per unit' in one direction and 'steps per unit' in the other direction.

If it takes 1000 steps to travel 1 inch upwards it will take 1000 step to travel 1 inch downwards.

What you have described is either backlash and/or missing steps.

If it is backlash the error will not accumulate but it will if you are missing steps. This suggests a test that you can make
to determine which.

MDI:
G0 Z1
Z0
Z1
Z0
Z1
Z0
Z1
Z0
Z1
Z0

This just rapids the Z axis up one inch and then down one inch. If you have backlash then the start and end point could well be different
to each other by the amount of backlash. If your missing steps the error will accumulate with each iteration of the cycle.

Report back with your results.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: inputs and probes
« on: November 29, 2018, 05:03:41 AM »
Hi,
the ESS has a total of 51 inputs/outputs.

You could dedicate 4 inputs to Probe1, Probe2.....Probe4 for instance. Note that Probe1, Probe2 etc are Mach4 inputs.
How many of them you use, if any at all, is up to you. If you want to use G31.X probing commands then Mach will
look at ISIG_PROBEX as the probe contact event.

For instance:
G31.2 Z -5 F50 will cause your machine to probe in its current XY location to a lowest of Z= -5mm at a speed of 50mm/min.
Mach will monitor ISIG_PROBE2 for the probe contact event. I suppose you could use  ISIG_PROBE2 as a signal to do something
else, turn a light ON or OFF say but why?

Hi,
yes it is pretty amazing and remarkably simple too.

I'm picking that once you come familiar with it and start exploring some of the other Touch scenarios you be off and running,
not just tool heights either!

Hi,

At this point in time it's unlikely I will hack the pendant to disable the screen.

That's not quite what I meant.  My observation on the posts which have been made is that it's the code associated with the screen
that causes the trouble. I suspect the rest of the code is indentical to the code for my P1A.

I wondered if you ignored the screen....does the rest of it work? I presume the pendant must somehow indentify itself to the
plugin and the plugin will deliver the firmware code to the pendant. If the pendant were to identify itself as a P1A then I would
anticipate (pure guesswork!!!) that your pendant would work OK....less the screen of course.

I did make this suggestion to another bloke on this board about two months ago and he was not impressed! If he couldn't have the screen
and everything working he wasn't going to have any thing......and he was going to complain and whinge about it!

Anyway....it might be a way for you to progress, it would not require that you physically disable the screen. You might even ask VistaCNC whether
my conjecture about the firmware code is correct. My impression is that the bloke there was pretty decent about trying to get customers
up and running.

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Mach 3 and win 7 crash and blue screen

Hi,
sounds like the security updates from Microsoft to Windows7.

AHHHH, Momma always said not to touch!! Cool.

Contrary to Momma's advice....touching wont make you go blind.......oops! Sorry just need to find my glasses to see what I've written! ;D

Hi,
the Touch button should bring the Touch screen into view. Thereafter you select the measurement you wish to make, in your
case the Z height measurement......fill in the appropriate parameters.....and probe.
