Mach4 General Discussion / Re: External button scripts in Mach4
« on: September 14, 2021, 03:20:27 AM »
Hi,
that's what the stack dump is for.

Open your Screenscript.lua and look at line locations 242, 84 and 620. There or there abouts is the error or errors. Note that the Screenscrpit.lua
IS NOT editable, it is the compiled chunk that includes ALL the Lua chunks and macros. You have to go back the the source script to edit it,
thereafter a new Screenscript.lua will be compiled and include the changes you have made.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: C69 ESS Spindle Control

Hi,

Quote
Was just really looking forward to doing things in LUA instead of VB.

100% agree. That was the main reason I got started with Mach4....to avoid VB. Lua has a bit of a learning curve
and 'has a syntax only a mother could love' (Smurph quote) but it is hands down better than VB.

I'm unfamiliar with the C69 board so cannot help with that.....but you need to stick with it. I've been using Mach4 for six-seven years
and it's light years ahead of Mach3.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: contrôle variation VDF xsy-at1 - XHc
« on: September 14, 2021, 01:09:36 AM »
Hi,
yes, XHC have for some reason not bothered to complete their plugin and consequently can't use Mach4GUI. I have heard also the
XHC were offered assistance by NFS to do so....but still can't be bothered.

There have been a few posts in a couple of threads about these supposed 'Mach4 ready' XHC controllers, it seem everyone has in the end ditched them in
favor of a US or European made controller.

wxMach was a very early user interface to test  the core, it was always intended that it was to be superseded with a genuine GUI.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: External button scripts in Mach4
« on: September 13, 2021, 04:23:18 AM »
Hi,
I haven't had any problem with <RefAll>.

What you need to do is assign an input signal, say ISIG_INPUT10 to your external button via your controller.
In the SigLib table whenever that input goes high have it call the existing <RefAll> script, you are just using an external
button to trigger an existing Mach4 function.

Post the error message. You may have noted that the standard <RefAll> script homes all four axes....but if you only have three then
it will fault. You need to go to the RefAll script in the ScreenLoad script and edit the fourth  axis out of the sequence.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: contrôle variation VDF xsy-at1 - XHc

Hi,
Mach4 is really two programs, Mach4Core.exe and Mach4GUI.exe.

The XHC controller does not support Mach4GUI.exe, it runs instead xwMach.exe which is a very stripped down, bare bones User Interface.
Many features of Mach are unavailable with that interface but are fully and readily available to Mach4GUI.exe. I believe the problem that you
cannot set 'Mach4' because that is non-changeable feature of wxMach.

If you want to get the most from Mach4 then you'll need a controller, or rather a controller plugin, that supports MachGUI.exe.
All the US an European made controllers do so, the one lone Chinese controller, XHC, does not.

Hi Bill,
there is an auction site here in New Zealand which is quite popular. It's a bit like Ebay but local to NZ only.

Some bright spark auctioned off  'a hot cup of tea'....and the auction was well followed and he got $20 for it...LOL.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Turn Backlash OFF in a script?
« on: September 09, 2021, 05:40:28 PM »
Hi,

Quote
I'm told that lines like this in the log file come from Mach4
++++++++ Motor 0: Pick up the Backlash from an ALL STOP before going Positive ++++++++

Yes, that is Mach4 issuing the command to the ESS however you cannot turn it on or off at will. The ESS when it fires up
gains its firmware from the ESS plugin, and enacts the commands in the firmware for the remainder of the session thereafter. Backlash
compensation enabling, on which axis, and by what amount are programmed into the ESS in the firmware. The only way to change that
behavior would be to re-flash the ESS part way through a session, ie a power cycle of the ESS.

Check the Control plugin....it does not have any parameters for backlash. The ESS plugin does. The only programmatic control Mach has over
backlash is:

Code: [Select]
mcMotionGetBacklashAbs
C/C++ Syntax:
int mcMotionGetBacklashAbs(
MINSTANCE mInst,
int motorId,
double *pos);

LUA Syntax:
N/A

Description:
Retrieves the last planned backlast amount for the given motor.

and:

Code: [Select]
mcMotionGetBacklashInc
C/C++ Syntax:
int mcMotionGetBacklashInc(
MINSTANCE mInst,
int motorId,
double *pos);

LUA Syntax:
N/A

Description:
Retrieves the last planned backlast amount for the given motor.

and note NEITHER of these has any Lua syntax, they have C syntax only. It's clear therefore that while Mach issues, or rather
Machs trajectory planner,' issues the command to take up the lash it's the ESS that does it, and that is not scriptable behavior.
If you want to turn off backlash on a given axis then you must do so in the ESS plugin.

Hi,
all of those features are already included in Mach4. If you go into 'Screen Edit' mode and click on each feature
you will be able to see how NFS coded each.....all you require is to duplicate that for each feature in the SigLib table,
one entry in the table per external button.

Hi,
there are two interpretations of m6 in Mach4.

The first and most common with hobbyists machines is that m6 t5, for instance will stop and install tool 5.
The second and fastest interpretation is that m6 t5, will stop and change to the tool in the tool changer and load
tool 5 into the tool changer for the NEXT tool change. This interpretation means that no time is lost selecting the tool
from the carousel to the tool changer and thence to the spindle.

The setting you are looking for is in the Control/Tools tab of the Control plugin.
