Hood,

Just one more thing ... here is how to movement is working. Please see image below.

Thanks,

William

Hi,

It seems that I didn't properly understand how the IAI "homing" was being done. Below is a better description;

The IAI robot does not return to the original position when you send a move command like "X20.0" > "X0.0".
It is not "Homing". Generally, homing means looking for the home position using sensor or motor torque limit. In our system M7 is the homing command and it works well, "SOMETIMES FAILS". (M9 is reset homing command).

Could it be that the problem is that ISI robot moves at a different duration with same pulse command which is send from CSMIO?

As for the XML, do you have an email address I can send it to?

Thanks,

Will...

Hi,

I have noticed that after I run the IAI servo that after the first run it starts to go to a different home. That is it seems to offset itself as much as a cm, sometimes a mm after each run.

But it does always go to the proper home once I run M7 and M9 commands using MIDI ALT2.

Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour?

Thanks,

Answer from CS-Lab:

CSMIO/IP-S has no capability for expansion beyond 6-axis.

Hi Alan,

18 axis is what our requirements in this year would be for now.

basically I am running lasers , UV, multi-spectrum diagnostics, Nordson dispensers, and some other things. Total list comes to about 15 for now. In the next version I will add real-time visual SEM and X-ray analysis to the mix, so at that time I will need to add more axis.

my whole system runs in a very large vacuum tank with mixed gases and solid-state anti-vibration systems which I designed.

It is called the "Sarcophagus".

CS-Lab / More than 6-axis from CSMIO/IP-S by daisy chaining or similar

Hi,

Alan and I was starting to discuss [on the Nordson thread] the possibility of using more than 6 axis using multiple CSMIO/IP-S. I thought I would put this on a different thread as a search showed no similar topics related to this.

It would be good for me to add more Nordson nozzles to my setup in conjunction with the lasers and other devices I have on my setup. But to do that I would need to find a way to add more CSMIO/IP-S boxes (daisy chain ??? or whatever ???).

Alan commented though that perhaps the Mach 3 software may not be able to support so many axis or have other limits.

Any comments on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Will...

Do you think CSMIO/IP-S can be used for so many axis, or would that be a different product?

Thanks,

Solution was found:

What I did was decided not to use the E.O.C. or the Analog signals.

I moved Analog Ouput 0 to the STEP/DIR connector STEP[3] [ + on the Nordson Initiate 1 ] [Pin No.8] and GND [ - on the Nordson Initiate 1 ] [Pin No.13].

In G-Code I used this as the A-Axis and it works like a charm.

Setup was 1. Motor Movement Profile , 2. Motor Ouputs, 3. Output Signals

Just added the A-Axis positions using standard g-code axis movements and let the Nordson TIMER mode sort out everything else.

Thank you very much Alan for your input and I hope this will help others in the future.

Now my new problem is the limitations of the CMSIO/IP-S for "number of axis". Hopefully they will either figure out how to daisy chain these boxes together for more axis or make a new version for 18 axis's.
