General Mach Discussion / Milled circle not completely round
« on: November 21, 2009, 06:42:45 PM »

Hi,

I have a cnc'd mini mill which I drive with Mach 3.   I use servos rather than steppers and Geco drivers.
I generate the GCode with OneCNC.

I do have some backlash on my X axis which I remove the backlash feature within Mach 3.   I believe I have this set to .0025.

When I cut a circle, the circle is not completely round there appears to be a flat area on one side aligned with the X axis which is maybe 20-15 degrees of the circle.  This flat area is maybe 10-20 thou shallow.

Below is a fragment o the GCode...   If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Backlash enabled
« on: November 24, 2007, 07:42:28 PM »

Hi Brett,

I just changed the shuttle setting to .1 and the backlash speed to 200% and the speed appears to be constant.. ie it worked :)

Can you tell me what I just did?

Thanks alot
Phil

General Mach Discussion / Backlash enabled

Hi,

I just turned on backlash for the first time and I noticed that each time direction is changed, the feed rate is slowed to almost zero and then sped up again to the set feed rate.

Is this standard behavior?  If so, it really slows a job down?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Phil

General Mach Discussion / Re: New PlugIn just about done..

Thanks Greg,

I'll try try that tonight.

Yes, from my limited knowledge it would appear to make more sense for the center to default to step.  Then as you say the outer is for continuous and the center for step which makes it functional.

Would you mind (and perhaps others) posting your button layout?

Thanks for all you help
Phil

General Mach Discussion / Using the Shuttle pro
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:29:40 AM »
Hi,

I just purchased a Shuttlepro and have a question about its use.

Everything seems to work just fine, except for the center jog dial.  The way i would like to use this is to single step at what ever the current single step is ie .001 or .010.

I have tried quite a few combinations to make it work like this but can't.  Can anyone talk me through the correct process?

Thanks

I tried to download the onecnc post processor, but the link fails.

Does anyone have a copy of this?

Thanks
Phil
