haik:

As yet, Im unsure, when I have all the pices working, Ill go back and make each one more robust,
I suspect its coming from the scan angle being a bit iff or something.. but I will be correcting for that some
in the post processing steps..

Hi Greg:

No, the scanner makes the moves. For that hand, I told it to do a 1mm Y stepover for 250mm's. It scansn that automatically when you tell it to go..  I have alot of modifications to make once I get it meshing, and I think Ill be able to clean it up quite a bit...

Hi:

Im afraid its a slow iterative process till we get ther.e At the moment, Im just finished the cleaning algorithms, computeing th tangents of each poin, reprojecting to the denoised surface normals , and decimating the cloud. My next step is to triangulate the cloud, then stl the output. At that point, I think VCarves will load the model and a toolpath can be built. At that point, Ill call MachCloud a done deal.
Its all very nasty math though, so it'll take awhile yet.. But it IS getting better all the time.
The hands above were simply draped in Rhino, no extra cleaning was done in Rhino, so as you can see from the model, the quality is improving quite a bit as I go.. not yet perfect, not as far as preprocessing, I think Im done, now I need to triangulate, then post process
to refinement levels, then Ill be done. Expect it to take a few weeks more anyway..

And a fresh model of my hand after cleaning more..

amazing thing is, I recognise the hand as my own.. :)

Hi Chip:

Yes, Ill add that. I just needed spaces at the moment, but machcloud can now deal with ,'s , so Ill add that..

Hi Guys:

Here is a newer machCloud program..

Itallows for some pruning and cloud decimation as cleanups..

The slow startr/stop moves are normal, its moving, waiting for a frame, then digitizing 640 points, then moving again..  Lost frames done matter, it only needs one when it needs one..

Hi David:

1st, I calibrate and I get a Scan Angle.

2nd, I change the feed rate to 5 (assuming its in/min, what should it be?)

>>Whatever you like.. Feedrate is in your current units/minute..

3rd, I change the StepOverX to .01  (What should it be?)

>>Leave it alone till next release, you shoudl be scanning in Y only..

4th, I changed the ScanX to 2 (because my object is 2 inches wide)

>>No, make the Y scan the 2"s , perhaps at .1 inch of YStepover

5th, I press Scan  (The table moves 2 inches at 5 in/min then returns).

>>Y shoudl move, it will take 640 samples of the X with each Y movement..

What else am I supposed to do, and what indication do I get when the txt file is created?

>>The file points.txt is now in your mach3 folder..

I have aquestion about frame rates.   Does 3DVideoProbe match one frame of video to each "StepOverX"?

No, it actually uses several frames per step, but as I say, stick with Y scanning only for now..

Regarding "camera control", I'm assuming that once I configure the camera to get the best resolution, I can ignore the startVideo stopvideo.

True, not needed to be used..

When do I press Stop Digitizing?

Only if you need to stop a scan or abort it..

Hi:

Its possible you have a direction prechange thats too low, did you try making the Direction wdth to 10 on the motor tuning screen? Some drivers need a delay that is a bit wide when changing directions.. Id try a few values, ( same test proceedure) and see if it varys the amount lost , or even corrects it..)
