General Mach Discussion / Re: GRex Spindle Step/Dir setup
« on: June 10, 2008, 01:14:26 PM »
Hi Guys:

Ive looke din the code. But its firmware that handles it, so I cant see if the firmware assumes a VFD where the acceleration isnt important, ( Most VFD's have a setting for max acceleration, all they care about is the actual frequency.). Id try this, turn onth eC axis again, tune it so as the C axis it has a proper accel and velocity. Flash that to the G100. Then restart MAch3 and turn off the C axis in the config/ports&pins. Then restart Mach3 again. At this piont the firmware has the proper accel of the C axis stored, the spindle shoudl then reflect that accel paramater as long as it isnt assuming a VFD that doesnt care. Ive never used a spindle control on the G100 so I cant really say if it does use it properly in the G100 for the spindle partition..

Hi:

Sorry about that, your right, it shoudl be the spindle axis that you tune in motor config.. Does that do nothing? If not, Ill check the plugin code for you to see what it may be..

Hi:

Been awhile, but as I recall the C axis should respon to the accel settings and the velocity settings , COMBINED with the setting of the pulley maximum.
SO in yours, the speed seems OK, its just the accel thats the issue?

Hi Guys:

Sorry for the lack of news, Im busy on several fronts. Im still working on LazyTurn, but Im very slow at the moment. Heres a phot of current level, Ill try to release another demo as soon as I strighten out the problems Im having on soem contouring issues. Allot of this is research, so it takes awhile, anyone thats done offsetting of random polygons can understand the dififculties involved. No promises on timeline, but as you can see the owrk continues. (Thanks to Brett for notifying me of the questions, I dont get auto notifications on this thread..

Hi Guys:

To use a step/dir spindle in a G100, turn on all axis in config/ports&pins except the C axis , and restart the program. The spindle will now be
the C axis. Set the port and pin of the C axis for the spindle output. Shoudl work fine then..

Hi Guys:

There was a lull while I was in egypt, but Im working on it again. Ive hit a snag where Im not happy with the offsetting
routines used in LazyCam so Im now recoding up some of my own. This is slow work, so it'll be awhile before any update, I am generating simple
roughing paths, but its failing the offset calcs on complex objects like the cannon example, so now I have to recode a new offset handler. Its
complex work, but Ill post an update sample when Im done..

Thx

Not a bad idea...  Ill giev some thought to a better way of calibrating..

Yup, thats the idea. It allows a person to do modifcations to a plugin as they wish. or to write their own. Unfortunatley , in the case of the video prober, I cant release the source, it uses a licensed video input ocx..

Yup, just too early for that feature. On mine I can see the stripes move as I use the arrow keys. This is to register the points to correct any inaccuracies in the
mesurement of pixel size. Its not machcloud thats broke in that sense, its the aquisition plugin, I need to make it much more accurate in terms of field size, yours must
be calibrating more off than mine, usually , 2 or 3 arrows make mine match up. Overlapping is normal, this is whats supposed to make the sides of items visable, but the accuracy isnt yet
high enough to take advantage..

Sid:

When doing striping, Set the X scan to the total amount of stepover, and the X step to somethign liek 200mm's.
It will then scan in the Y, come back, move over 200 and scan the Y again, and repeat till the entire X range is used.
When loading into MachCloud, ( The TV show was McCloud. :) ) , when it says to use arrows, the second stripe shoudl appear,
at that point you arrow back and forth to try to match up the points as best you can, then hit enter. This will repeat for all Stripes. Inaccuracies will make it very hard to match things up. Results will vary widely. :)
