General Mach Discussion / A axis kaput
« on: March 19, 2017, 08:28:30 PM »
Okay, I built my cnc router 6 years ago and it has worked perfectly...until today!  So now I have to relearn everything over to troubleshoot.  My A axis, slaved to the Y, seems to be dead.  I can switch Y and A cables and the gantry runs from whichever side I plug into the Y axis port, so I inclined to look at the electronics.  Before I tear into the whole drive wiring I did notice something that might be perfectly normal, but odd.  When I go to the diagnostics page and try to reference the Y axis, the numbers don't change for the A axis.  Are they supposed to??  Likewise, when I "unslave A from Y and try to reference the A axis...nothing.  Seems like it should be moving like the rest do???

General Mach Discussion / vacuum control
« on: May 23, 2013, 12:22:51 AM »
I want to use the spindle relay to control my vacuum. Enabled it, changed the default output to "1", enabled Output #1, hooked that to a relay and it works....mostly!  M3 turns on the spindle and the vac.  M5 shuts them both off, but...it also results in a "limit switch activated", requiring a reset, even though none of the axis are anywhere near a limit switch.  If I redo the whole thing using M7/M9, I get the same result.  Looking at the diagnostic page, nothing is showing.  Anyone have a quick answer??

General Mach Discussion / Trouble with limit/home config
« on: May 09, 2013, 01:47:03 AM »
My newly commissioned router is working pretty well.  The setup is PMDX-132 breakout board, Gecko 203V drivers, SmoothStepper/USB, and PMDX-107 spindle control.  I finally got around to adding limit switches and am having trouble configuring things.  I have a separate input (I know I don't need to) for X+, X-, Y+, Y- , A+, A-, and Z+ and have enabled both the limit and the home functions on X-, Y-, and Z+ and the limit for X+ and Y+.  The Hall effect limit switches all work fine.  The trouble is that when I hit the "Reference All" button, the machine references the Y axis, triggers the limit, backs off a bit, with the limit alarm still active requiring a Reset to clear.  End of referencing!  I cannot figure out how to get Mach to continue and reference the other axis.

I'm betting this is a simple issue, but so far I haven't tripped across the answer!

Help would be appreciated!

General Mach Discussion / E-Stop latching??
« on: March 17, 2013, 09:02:00 PM »
I am trying to bring up a new CNC router and am using the PMDX-126 BOB, PMDX-134 motherboard w/G203V drivers, the USB SmoothStepper, and the PMDX-107 spindle controller.  Several E-stop switches are wired in series to the PMDX-134 and the function seems to work normally when Mach3 is not running (meaning the led on the BOB reflects the condition of any of the E-Stop switches), but when Mach3 is running, hitting E-stop causes Mach3 to shut everything down appropriately, but hitting the Reset button on the Mach3 screen doesn't clear the E-stop condition.  In fact, the led on the BOB stays lite regardless of whether or not you clear the switch (or hit the reset button on Mach3).  What is keeping it active??  Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
