General Mach Discussion / Re: Triggered limit switches in Mach3

With your response in mind. What would you recommend me buy to accomplish this.
My work uses automation direct parts but I am replacing stuff all the time. Thanks

Brett,

I did go home and change my pin out like you said to try.  It worked for a while but still poped up.  Limit triggered.  I was told by somebody else to try replacing the push button limits to proxs..  What you think?  Right now I turned off the limit switches but still using the home switches.  I guess I could put in a soft limit for table but I still would like something redundant.  Thanks for the help.

I'd like to do a few things but don't know what direction to go at this point.  I have just finished building my machine, and currently and a machine build as a full time job.  I see so much stuff at my work and really would love to implement on my machine.  Connecting a Emerson CT commander drive to Mach3 for stop, start, reversing my 1.34 hp air spindle.  I still have to add a breaking resistor to the drive so I will have a better stop time ratio but would like to maybe include a feed rate adjusting factor comparing load on spindle.  Creating better control so there is less wear and tear.  Maybe when the load increases over a certain point that it tells mach 3 to slow feed rate for a time interval and the rescan to see if the load is below the threshold.  I don't know if I am getting to into this but I think it is fun and interesting.  I also would like to put a light stack indicating run, stop, waiting for tool change or a warning for the feed rate change due to load.  I have the software for the drive since it is all free off Emerson Ct commander website.  I am just just a bit new to the whole programming aspect of it.  willing to learn to though.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Brett, I am new to mach3. Just downloaded the current mach3 off artsoft site.  And bought license. I have not down anything yet to mach3 except default stuff I guess. I have a 1.34 hp spindle with a emerson ct vfd drive, I would like to control with mach3 by modbus or something.  Maybe on/off, load meter, and maybe a little program to adjust feed rate if load has exceeded a certain perctange. I am also trying to figure out a vacuum hold down system.

Now for the other two axis just put in an input or a specific one? Thanks.

Well I went home and I increased the de-bounce.  Seemed to work but still triggers once and awhile in movement.  Al connections are tight and rerun.  Here is the xml, made sure I saved current.

Thanks

Angel tech I have increased my debounce to 1000.  So I will also try that when I get home tonight.

General Mach Discussion / Triggered limit switches in Mach3

Hello everyone.  I have recently finish building my cnc and have ran into a couple things.  I have done some reading but the few things I have tried have not worked.  I have put 2 limit switches per axis.  Using the two for limits and one of them for homing.  I have them in series on each axis, one leg to ground and one to each designated pin.  I am using pins 10, 11, and 12.  Have not installed e-stop yet but will.

The problem I am having when enabling the Y and Z axis Mach 3 states that I have a triggered limit.  I push the reset button and it does reset and then about 4-6 seconds later it says its tripped again.  I go to diagnostics screen and there are no LED's lit for trips.  Now I can enable X axis and the homing works.  The axis moves to that point and it stops.  And if I send the axis to trip limit it works.

Another problem that I things corresponds with my axis problem is that when I turn off X axis and enable Y axis and try to home.  Y starts to move and then stops.  Same with z axis.

I am stumped. I have checked my wiring and redid some wiring thinking I had a shielding problem.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks everyone.

Modbus / Re: Good VFD for Mach 3

Hello,
I am new to this forum but and happy to bring some information to the table. I am running an Emerson CT Drive (SK Commander). It is a 1.5 hp 220 v single phase input with 3 phase output.  All software is free from Emerson website.  If needed and you can not find it online, I have it.  The only down side to this drive is to access the upper parameters to adjust most high speed spindle motors volts to hz ratio needs a cable.  They do sell the USB adapter. i tis it is about $60.00 but I can not remember.   I have to say it is very handy.  I am able to go online with the drive and monitor loads, amp, and I am able to make adjustments directly into the drive and have explanations on every parameter with the direct PDF manual.  It sounds all easy but there is a bit of a learning curve if there is no knowledge in drive programming.  I would give it a good thumbs up.  :) This can be ordered from Ebay, or from PLc Center.

Now we were talking about Modbus.  This does have the capabilities.
