TB6560 are well know to be problematic and are typical Chinese junk with lousy documentation. Chinese aren't known for quality control. There is a reason they only cost $35. If you paid more than $35 you got ripped off. Sounds like you got a bad stepper driver right out of the box. Good luck with returning it or getting a replacement.

As the saying goes... you get what you pay for.

One thing you might want to check is the power supply is set for the incoming line voltage. The power supply line power can be either 120V or 220V selectable via a switch on the case. If the power supply is setup for 220V and connected to a 120V, the DC output will be  approx 9 to 12VDC not 24VDC. Most Meanwell power supplies I've seen are shipped for setup for 220V.

I have a ESS Ethernet and one of my biggest complaints is the TOTAL lack of product documentation. The Warp9 people don't realize that if the end user can't figure out to setup the product it's basically a worthless product. As example... the ESS config page has a ton of setting there is absolutely zero documentation on what they do or proper setup.

There is a second party write up how to config the Ethernet communication but its for Windows 7 not XP. So its allot of frustation to set it up if you aren't a pc wiz kid.

As far a Mach 3 there is nothing to setup except setting the kernal speed to 25khz and use your existing Mach 3 setting for homing, motor tuning etc.

Sorry for the rant... but Warp 9 expect the consumer to shell out $200 and be happy with no documentation.

General Mach Discussion / Re: using an inverter to control speed
« on: January 06, 2015, 04:19:08 PM »
Its more complicated than simply "switching it on and selecting mode or something". If you have the operation manual and can't understand it then setting it up is way beyond your ability level. VFD's have to be setup for line voltage, frequency, motor amps, HP, rpm, rotation, min & max speeds, accel/deaccl, input and speed control methods, etc. to name a few. Then properly wiring the drive is a whole another issue. All of this info you didn't mention so unless someone has a crystal ball it's impossible to know.

Setting up a VFD incorrectly can result in a destroyed drive, equipment damage and/or someone getting hurt or killed. I do this for a living and have seen my share of mangled equipment, snapped shafts, and blown up drives because someone "thought" they knew how to program a drive. It should not be done by someone that doesn't have knowledge of the equipment. My advise is to wait until your service people are back at work or hire someone to set it up for you.

SmoothStepper USB / Homing Limit Warning Message
« on: January 05, 2015, 11:18:14 AM »
Using ESS Ethernet, Gecko 540 with Mach v0.62... when I use the ESS homing/limits I get a "Exceeded Soft Limit" warning on Mach after homing. Happens on X,Y & Z axis. Played with the ESS homing settings but still get the exceeded limits warning. If I uncheck "Use this configuration" on the ESS homing config page (reverting back to Mach homing routine) no warning message.

The ESS homing works ok except for the warning message.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a communication problem with the  one of the G203V.

Contact Gecko and discuss the problem... they are good to deal with.

First clue... why did you rewire it if it was working ok?? Change the wiring back to the original wiring configuration. It's possible you have the motors mis-wired.

One other thing... the driver you bought off of Ebay (Chinese I assume) could be failing or has failed. Basically these are low quality junk. You get what you pay for.  Go with a Gecko 540.

SmoothStepper USB / Re: USB to Ethernet adapter for ESS Smoothstepper?
« on: December 20, 2014, 07:28:35 PM »
Personally I've not had good luck with any USB-Ethernet adapters. They all seem problematic in one form or another. Remember any device added is another place for a problem to show up. If you haven't already purchased a USB smooth stepper... go with the Ethernet SS. Its easy to setup, less prone to noise interference and not limited to cable length (1500ft).
