Hi all
I'm converting an old Farley Wizard to Mach3 and run into some issues and need help.
I have the 2 axis motors working fine (actually excellent after some motor tuning)
My problem are the input signals for the limit and home switches
In axis X, limit (-) and home are connected to pin 12 and the (+) switch is connected to pin 11 and set up exactly the same way on the ports and pins window (red cross on the low setting) but...
X- and Home work fine but the X+ doesn't work at all
Same applies to the Y axis but there only the Y+ works.
I'm using Mach3 version 067 with license
All limit/home switches are NC
2 Stepper driver (2M982) set up to 1000 steps and 5Amps output (running sweet)
Motor are rated at 1205 oz at 5Amps
The breakout board is opto isolated and all signal are working fine (closed -5V, open 0V.
The funny thing is that I get problems on a different pin every time I reboot the computer
Will post .xml file tomorrow.

Exactly.
All 3 axis have a twin switch, 1 acts as limit/home and the 2nd one is the extreme limit switch.
I only seen it working on manual mode when over riding the 1st one (limit switch)
This is on a Bridgeport Interact 520V
I can take some pictures on Monday, still waiting for the technician to fix the problem with the hand encoder wheel.

I am repairing a Bridgeport milling center and it only has 1 limit switch for each axis.
They are located at the center of travel, lets say "X" travels 800mm and the switch is located at 400mm
There is a extra switch in the same enclosure that work as Extreme limit switches.
I'm planing to do the same in the machine I'm building.

What ever you do don't buy BOBs or motor drivers from w**HYU68.com (China/Hong Kong)they are a waist of time and money.
I bought a BOB from them and have spend 4 hour fixing it and sorting the output connections.

Another option for the noise in the supply line is a noise filter.
Cheap and easy to implement in any electric/electronic machine and easy to find in any good electronics supplier (RS/Farnell/Conrad etc).
I always have a couple of them in my parts bin.
It filters the noise in the power line into the machine and/or computer, most of the good PC power supplies have one.
Airborne RF/HF noise is a complete different story

Will give it a rest for now while I build the machine (build from scratch from the remains from a scraped EDM machine).
Will give it another go when I get a working "Y" axis so I can do a proper test.

Well I don't have a TB6560 board.
The breakout board is from the same manufacturer and like I mentioned before I fixed it and found out all the pin out (inputs and output).
I not for a fact that the board is working because I tested all of the pin one by one.
The input pins put out a LOW level signal (a few mV) on pins 10/11/12/13/15 and a HI level (4.99V) wen I press any of the limit switches or the E-stop.
The problem most be somewhere else and probably is some sort of configuration.
Going to have a look see on the tutorials

I will have to check that but I'm pretty sure the ground is common all around the breakout board.
I did try he automated setup but it didn't work.
My test setup is pretty cheap, 1 300VA toroid for the power supply, 1 2M542 stepper driver and a Chinese breakout board from the same manufacture that build the crap TB6560 motor driver (www.hyu68.com).
I repaired the breakout board and now is working fine(?)
Cheap stuff for testing before I start spending some money.

Hi everybody
I'm new here but I want to help and off course be helped.
About your grounding set up:
Yes, common practice to connect earth wire (yellow/green) to the chassis of the machine.
Yes common practice to connect all earth wires to the same grounding point ( from motors or power supplies running from the mains)
Not common is connecting the negative wire to ground, it doesn't hurt but I never seen this done unless you put a small value resistor ( +/- 10 Ohms 5 or 10W ) to "lift" the ground.
Another thing is if you are using shielded cable for the steppers or limit/home switches connect only one side of the shied to ground.

Ok now for me
I'm testing a few things now that I started building my CNC mill and I run in some problems...
Yesterday I finally managed to get the motor to run (not perfect but ok for testing).
My problem now is/are the E-stop and limit switches, I tried everything and noting, no limits or E-stop.
I tried HI/LOW settings and different pins and nothing.
I know for a fact that the breakout board is working and putting out the correct voltage, the E-stop is connected to pin 15.
Any ideas ?
